LOVE AT FIRST BITE George Hamilton is possibly the tannest vampire in screen history in 1979's Love at First Bite. When Count Dracula (Hamilton) is forced out of his castle to make room for an Olympic training facility, he relocates to New York City in search of discos, blood banks, and the fashion model who just might be the girl of his dreams. Will the Count take a bite out of the Big Apple - or will it's mean streets take a bite out of him? Susan Saint James, Richard Benjamin, Arte Johnson, Dick Shawn and the Jeffersons' Sherman Hemsley and Isabel Sanford also star in this outrageous romance about a guy who really loves the nightlife. ONCE BITTEN Jim Carrey is necking with a vampire in Once Bitten, a 1985 teen comedy also starring Lauren Hutton, Karen Kopins, and Cleavon Little (Blazing Saddles). When a vampire Countess (Hutton) seeks virgin blood, she soon discovers that it's not as easy to come by as it was in the good old days! When she crosses paths with the still-virginal Mark Kendall (Carrey in one of his earliest screen roles), it's a race against time to get to him before he gets it on. Once Bitten is a totally '80s teen vampire flick where the bloodsuckers don't sparkle, but the comedy most certainly does.

A very fun vampire comedy bluray double feature courtesy of Scream Factory
The fine people at Scream Factory keep their bluray double features coming by pairing up the vampire comedies "Love at First Bite" (1979) starring George Hamilton and "Once Bitten" (1985) starring Lauren Hutton and Jim Carrey."Love at First Bite" is the better film of the two and is still quite funny all of these years later. That is mainly due to George Hamilton's stupendously funny Dracula and a smartly written script. The rest of the cast strike the right notes of not hamming it up too much. Fans of the film will be pleased that the famous disco track I Love the Night Life has been restored to the soundtrack of a club scene in the movie. Picture quality is excellent and the audio is presented in lossless 2 channel audio. Extras include the theatrical trailer and three radio spots."Once Bitten" is most famous due to a young Jim Carrey in a supporting starring role and a smoking hot Lauren Hutton playing the vampire seductress. She was in her early 40's when she made this comedy and looks positively stunning throughout while also delivering a fun performance which really holds the film together. Jim Carrey hadn't really broke out yet career wise as that would happen a few years later on the television show In Living Color. The plot won't win any awards but once again, when you have a ravishing Lauren Hutton slinking around the screen, that is pretty inconsequential. It's overall your basic 80's teen sex comedy that is somewhat hamstrung by the more restrictive PG-13 rating. Picture quality once again is very nice with colors that pop and detail which is quite impressive. Audio is again in lossless 2 channel and the only extra is the theatrical trailer. Both films are presented on their original 1.85:1 theatrical aspect ratios. This is a fun double feature bluray of two fun vampire comedies which comes highly recommended. Despite both films being on a single bluray, no compression artifacts are seen at all.

NOT The Version with the Alicia Bridges song, I LOVE THE Night Life, playing during the dance scene.
Love at First Bite, Is a Timeless Classic, Comedy Starring George Hamilton, Susan Saint James, and Actor, Richard Benjamin. It came out in 1979, and is a vampire Comedy, Love story. It is Cornball at it's very best, played very well by it's actors. I Saw it in the Theater, owned it on VHS, DVD, and have seen it on Cable, Literally Hundreds of times. I bought it this time as an Import, HOPING it would be the version, (MINOR SPOILER, IF YOU'VE NEVER SEEN IT) that has The Alicia Bridges song, I Love The Night Life, Playing during a dance scene. The song was replaced by another, for the VHS, and DVD Versions. That Being said, it Changes the feeling of that scene in the movie. which in turn, kind of changes the whole thing. I still love the movie, but If I want to see that Particular Version, with the Alicia Bridges song intact, I have to watch it Edited on Network TV, Which it Rarely airs. Not sure if it's been released on Blu-Ray, which I don't have a player of course. I own a VHS DVD Combo player. It is a Travesty, that the song was removed from the Original Version. My Guess is Copyright, Red Tape BS, for the reason. Still a Worthy classic, but would turn Dracula over in his coffin, if he got word of it. Lol!!

I love the nightlife song
There seems to be some confusion with the mixing of reviews which is typical of Amazon not giving every single item it's own separate page for reviews The movie "Love at first bite' comes in either single movie dvd or the Blu ray combo with the Jim Carrey movie "Once Bitten. The dvd version of Love at first bite, during the dance sequence, the Alicia Bridges song "I love the nightlife" has been replaced. But I can attest the blu ray combo of Love at first Bite/Once Bitten, the Alicia Bridges song "I love the night life" is 100 percent there in all it's glorious form, which is the highlight of the movie, that hooked us all as George Hamilton fans whether we first saw it in the theater, or a primetime tv movie night in the 1980's. The movie also looks fantastic in HD blu ray, with vibrant coloring and will look fantastic on your huge Lcd tv as you hear "I love the nighlife" in 5.1 Dolby on a cozy Friday night this upcoming 2021 Fall halloween season.

George Hamilton is the Count
Hilarious! George Hamilton was never respected enough for his comic acting before he became the bronzed self-parody for which he's most widely known today. Love at First Bite and Zorro the Gay Blade are two of my all-time favorite comedies, even if the latter would be considered a little insensitive in these highly PC times. I've owned ZTGB on dvd for several years now, but I was really disappointed with the first dvd release of LAFB which replaced the disco classic, I Love the Night Life, with a generic dance song in the famous George Hamilton/Susan St James dance scene. This blu ray release has restored the hit song where it belongs, making this scene work in a way it just didn't with the replacement song. I fondly remember how much I loved this movie as a kid even though I didn't get all the jokes (What's a loan shark, mommy?). Bottom line...If you don't chuckle (or laugh outright) while watching this then you must be dead and need a wooden stake to put you out of your misery. The other movie in this collection, Once Bitten, deserves recognition mostly for being one of Jim Carrey's first movies. It is also pretty amusing and highly watchable but doesn't really deserve the same classic status.
