Homodox Dehydrator: A Solid Starter for Sustainable Living
The Homodox Dehydrator has been a welcome addition to our kitchen, as we embark on a journey towards a more sustainable lifestyle. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of high-end dehydrators, it certainly gets the job done. One crucial tip we’ve learned is to always use the plastic clear cover on the top. Without it, air escapes, and dehydration becomes ineffective. Fortunately, a quick Google search provided us with additional instructions and techniques to optimize our dehydrating process. The included instruction and cooking book is a nice touch, but we’ve found more comprehensive tips and tricks online. Nonetheless, the dehydrator offers two height options for the trays, allowing for versatile dehydration of various foods. We purchased this dehydrator specifically to reduce food waste by preserving excess produce from our garden this summer. In that regard, it has served us well. For the price point, it’s a solid choice for beginners looking to dip their toes into the world of dehydration. Overall, the Homodox Dehydrator offers practical functionality and serves as a gateway to sustainable living. While it may require some extra research to maximize its potential, it’s a worthy investment for those seeking to reduce food waste and live more eco-consciously.

nice, easy to use
It has a nice shelf profile, compact and looks great on the cabinet. I have used it numerous time and found it pretty easy to use. Noise level is minimal. Pros: looks good, easy to use, dries all shelves within 6 hrs depending on the product. Easy to clean with some caveats. Very easy to program. Cons: Instructions lack english comprehension, you need to use online sources for tips. Cleaning can be problematic if you have a small sink. It may be dish washable which would help but I havent used that option. Stacking can be annoying as you have to lock them together, so will do lots of turning round the trays to get them right. Have to rotate trays during drying as the ones on top dont dry as fast. Tips: I use this alot for chicken jerky, learned to spray the trays with nonstick oil first saves cleanup time. rotate rotate rotate to ensure even quick drying. No idea why you would use lower temps to dry, even finely sliced zucchini strips dont burn on the highest temps, using low temps only adds to overall dry time. use a marker to indicate up/down on trays to eliminate some of the fudging around while you stack them. hand washing is easy but awkward due to the number of trays. unit holds 3 large chicken breasts, or 3 medium finely sliced zuccs for chips. you need silicon trays to make liquid stuff like fruit leather. i recommend this unit for beginners and for hobbyists, would need a bigger more serious unit for large scale dehydration.

Flaming plastic smells horrible.
Fire hazard. I ordered this dehumidifier on 9/23/2023 and it was delivered a couple days later, so this machine is about two days and one week old. It has operated decently in that time, though it is extremely hard to clean. However, the heating element caught fire this morning. We were about to walk out the door for the day when we noticed a burning smell, turned around and saw first smoke, and then full flames. Luckily, my husband was able to put it out before the cabinet it was near caught fire. So, yeah, I do not recommend this product if you like having a home to come home to after work, rather than a pile of charred ruble.

Amazing
I should have gotten a food dehydrator years ago! This one works soo well I absolutely love that it has a set temperature and timer! It runs great and wasn’t badly priced! There is a lot of room and it stores nicely.

Worked for a year and then quit
Bought this machine Oct 2020 and started using it in the summer of 2021. It is easy to use and I like the trays. I did have to rotate the trays as the bottom trays always dry faster than the top trays. I worked it pretty good doing tomatoes, onions and peppers, but after 3-4 months of actual use the heating element quit working. Fan still worked, but no temp at all. Looked on YouTube for a fix and opened it up to see what I could do. It looks like the fuse is soldered to the board (photo) and is rather small and finicky, and I couldn't find a replacement using the numbers on the board. Ended up going up just purchasing an Excalibur...which I like a whole lot more, but at a substantial increase in cost.

Bought Aug 2022...used it alot until Nov 2022. Then used it a bit during winter. Used it yesterday...fan didn't start and heat melted it. So $153.00 is too much for short period of time it lasted.
