would this provide enough tork for a 3d direct drive extruder?

I am using this with the E3D Titan extruder. It is not a direct drive in the sense the shaft of the motor is not moving the filament directly. It has a 3:1 gear ratio. It is, however, sitting on top of my hotend and in that sense, it is a direct drive (i.e. not a bowden).

Is this better as a direct drive on an e3d or as a bowden? i'm have trouble with it feeding filament as a bowden to i need to up my esteps?

If you’re using a Bowden I’d use a normal high torque NEMA 17. This short body 17 has to be geared in order to drive filament as a geared direct drive the short body lightens the weight on the hotend. You could use this on a Bowden but it still needs geared, but because weight isn’t an issue you could go with a heavier stepper. But if your wanting to increase your steps going with a normal 17 and use gear reduction will increase the steps and increase torque

Can this be used with e3d titan extruder

Yes it can , but you will have to solder on a plug if you want it to be like the original motor.
