If I were to use the material for drapes, I would line them. It is not quite as heavy as the usual jacquard drape material, but the lightness of the fabric would give it a nice "drape" to it. Lining might help protect the material from fading and sun rotting, although I really have not used it in this manner to have that kind of experience with it.
