Instead of purchasing overpriced products purporting to be shea butter when they contain some shea butter, along with myriad extra ingredients, you can buy this genuine, 100% shea butter. It feels and smells like shea butter because that's what it is. This is the best product; I wouldn't purchase it any other way My skin is very dry and this is the only product that helps it stay moisturized. I also appreciate that it isn't scented. I used to try to take a little and warm it in my hands before trying to rub it on my skin, but I've discovered a better solution. I have a tiny container that I fill with a little shea butter. I then leave the container in a larger container of hot water for a few minutes until it liquefies. The liquid butter is easy to apply and makes my skin feel so smooth and soft. This is the most economical way to buy quality shea butter, so you can excuse the less than optimal packaging and, instead, appreciate that it works well and will last a long time.

This came packaged well. It was soft and grit-free. It was ivory/beige in color just like it should be. It was perfect. I immediately cut it up with a knife and repacked it into used Shea butter jars I had been saving. And I also used a couple of freezer baggies. It made very nice, smooth and creamy Shea butter moisturizers. I had been buying prepackaged Shea butter in jars and had just gotten a jar full of grit. Yuk! This was a relief to receive and have it be so perfect for a much, much better price. Five times as much Shea butter for only seven dollars more than I paid for the prepackaged Shea butter. FIVE TIMES MORE!! It is more work and kind of messy, but I think the savings are well worth it. I would recommend wearing latex gloves so you don't get butter on everything you touch from the knife to the jars, door knobs, handles, drawers, etc... I wish I had worn latex gloves myself. I will next time! My only negative comment would be that it was disappointing that it was packed in two bags, one inside the other, both sealed and neither bag was resealable. I didn't know that when I first opened it. So right then I had to deal with it because I didn't know if it would harden or get funny if it wasn't sealed in an airtight bag or container. If I had known it wasn't in a resealable bag, I would have waited until I had a lot more time to deal with getting it in jars and freezer baggies. But still very happy with the purchase. I think it was quite a good find.

I just ordered this product. I had been using the junk shea products at the beauty supply stores off and on for years. Not real happy about it. Just did not know any better. I have vitiligo and have to use sunblock. If I don't my skin will burn immediately from sun exposure. Then all the different lotions, day creams, night creams, foot creams, hair oils, eye creams, skin brighteners. toners, peels etc. I have just retired, at 55, and need one product for everything. Tired of spending a small fortune on junk from Macy's. A lady gave me a small sample of your product. I am very pleased. My skin has not burned in the sun, and my man thinks I am soft, smooth and smell earthy. Great foot massages and well Enough said about that. Love the results of this product from head to toe. I have read about different ways of blending the shea butter to create body butter with different oils or butters. I am open to any and all suggestions that have worked for others. I really want one butter cream for everything. I have read many list of uses for shea butter-please help me out. One thing I can attest to, I have not used any other product. Is there a shampoo mixture that I could make? UPDATE: The customer service is wonderful. Had a small issue with the weight. I think the decimal point was the issue. It was corrected, product arrived quickly without additional postage. I will order the 10 pound of black soap and unrefined shea in the future. The products have worked for my daughters' eczema-a 20 year problem. The skin has begun to clear dark patches and smoothness is returning.

First off I've never used shea butter until now so right when I got it literally I made some deoderant sticks with my coconut oil and beeswax I got from another seller on amazon this stuff is amazing I don't know why I haven't used it before. I've had a really bad problem with smell and nothing works not even commercial deoderants so I wanted to start making soap and cosmetics and body care to sell as a side line business and maybe go full time eventually. This stuff is literally amazing. It melts on contact with the skin and apparently my skin needs it really bad because it absorbed it really quickly. It smells amazing it was so potent that when I took it out of the packaging I could smell it through the plastic I love it. My mom even said I smell really good. She's normally the one who wouldn't even hug me really because my smell was so bad she'd tell me to go take a shower. She wasn't being mean or anything about it. But it got really annoying. So I deffinitly say buy this product I'll be using it to make as a face scrub after I get out of the shower. This product is absolutely lovely, and exactly as described. It is soft and squishy, but also somewhat crumbly at lower temperatures (above freezing but below normal room temperatures). The color is mostly cream (a yellow/tan-ish off-white, not bright yellow like some). The smell is really pleasant. This is my first experience with raw shea but it smells warm and nutty, and just slightly smoky. It reminds me of something, maybe some sort of holiday candy, but i cant quite place it. I like it a lot. The texture is mostly smooth. I let a dab melt in my hands and it rubbed right in, leaving my hands soft and my fingernails slightly shiny. It is unfiltered, so there are some areas of plant matter that I intend to filter out at the end of my low-temp (105-115 F) herbal infusion process along with the herbs I will be adding. I haven't weighed it yet, but it is a substantial quantity. My only complaint is that it was shipped in a flat rate bag that it barely fit in with only one other (unsealed) bag inside and the outer shipping bag was slightly too small so the sticky flap stuck to the inner bag and tore it while opening, exposing the raw shea. I simply taped it and it shouldn't cause any issues during storage.

This Raw Unrefined Ivory Shea Butter from smellgood is my new go to for body butters, it may not smell good, but it sure feels good! It is exactly as described, unrefined, pure top grade and SOFT! I received a large "brick" of (soft- easily cuts with knife) ivory colored shea butter wrapped in a plastic bag, and inside a box. No frills in packaging, and that doesn't matter. What DOES matter is the quality of the item, and this is a superb product! It has an earthy aroma that is not particularly welcoming, but not offensive either, and it's very easy to disguise. I ordered a 5 pound bag, and it is almost gone already! Next order will be at the very least, 10 pounds. I love this stuff, and anyone I have given body butter to, loves it also. I mix this with raw cocoa butter, extra virgin coconut oil, vitamin E, a few bulk supplements and essential oil(s) of choice and the outcome is a creamy, soft, nourishing lotion that my skin just drinks in. It makes you feel soft all over and soothes dry winter skin like no other! It can be scented with any oil you choose, and that covers the smell, OR the shea smell adds to it. Either way it's a winner! I will be purchasing more Raw Unrefined Shea Butter from smellgood very soon, and I recommend that you do too!

I read the reviews and because of the negative comments I was seriously debating on rather I wanted to order from this vendor or not. I received my package yesterday and it was perfect, it was a little more than the 5 lbs they offered which was a bonus. I've been using Shea butter as a body and hair moisturizer for many years(I'm a black woman for those that need to know). The color of the Shea butter was exactly as I expected it to be "ivory" meaning off white or beige. Some people say "it stinks" it does have a nutty, natural, earth like scent. If you are turned off by this maybe Shea butter isn't for you or adding some essential oils might be the way to go. Another similar butter to use is Cocoa Butter which tends to have a sweeter scent. I also saw some comments mentioning that it's messy and gets on your clothes. With Shea butter a little goes a long way so if it's leaving residue on your clothes you're using entirely too much. Also, Shea butter takes a little more time to "rub in" than your typical lotion. The Shea butter came in a box (of course) but in the box was a doubled up plastic bag (which didn't brother me) I just scooped it up with a spoon and transferred the product into two large plastic jars. In closing...I received exactly what I wanted and what ordered. There was no residue(dirt,sticks,etc.) so I don't plan on straining or melting it...I prefer it in it's natural state.

I ordered three pounds of this shea butter because the shea butter lotion I usually get is only 14 ounces and costs about the same so this was a much better deal. Though it is raw and unfiltered the one I received was so clean I didn't want to risk diminishing the wonderful properties of it by doing anything to it. The smell is very smoky and nutty as most reviewers have stated. It is not a lovely perfume smell but it is not bad. I kind of like it. It smells kind of like toasted nuts. It is meant more of an ingredient to add to homemade lotions but I did not want to mess with it so I use it as is. It is quite oily that way so I put it on in the shower and let the water wash away the excess greasiness. It makes my skin so soft and smooth. I have not seen much of a difference in my acne scars but as long as it makes my skin soft I'm happy
