Hugger Mugger Nature Ultra Yoga Mat - Unique Variegated Design, Extra Cushion, Durable, Sticky and Grippy, Stable Non-Slip Surface, Lightweight

Based on the reviews here on Amazon, I asked Santa for this mat for Christmas. I chose the 1/4" over 1/8" thick mat and so happy I did. I am a yoga instructor, and this mat gives gives me added cushioning I need to demonstrate the asana's. I usually had pressure areas on my small wrists and knees on the thinner mats I own, so the added cushion is just perfect. I couldn't decide if I wanted the ocean color or evergreen. I decided on ocean and it is just beautiful. The coloring variation throughout the mat is so unique & soothing as you flow through your asana's. I like the coloring on the opposite side of the mat best, so I roll it out on the opposite side and it still lays perfectly flat. The only issue with smell is very slight and only when I am in child's pose. 10 stars ~ Highly recommended **Fast forward 1.5 years later...Pitted and slippery at times. I just bought a Jade Harmony rubber yoga mat to replace. Hands down, it is the best mat with extraordinary grip.

I got my first Hugger Mugger Ultra mat over two years ago and decided it was time to replace it after lots of hours of practice which had reduced the cushion loft and even left deeply imprinted foot marks...I'm just as pleased with the replacement mat which is also a bit longer than my original mat (a nice bonus). I love the extra cushioning- it makes a huge positive difference for my comfort, and my joints are happy, too! I have tried several different mats as a spare through the years and have returned them all- Hugger Mugger can't be beat. Some were too heavy, got stinky, smelled like rubber, or were slippery. This one is just right! This mat is my safe haven for yoga practice and I rely on it. I practice Bikram Yoga about three times a week, so combining this mat with a Yogitoes skidless yoga towel is a win-win. I've washed the mat with mild dish soap to start the wearing-in process, and spray it down with a lavender oil/water mist after each class. This keeps the squeak and the stink down. If you have sweaty hands like I do- not a big problem in Bikram, since everything is sweaty- I would suggest adding a yoga towel to minimize slippage. A great value, with comfort and longevity- it's the perfect yoga mat!

I have a hard time finding a yoga mat in a color I don't mind staring at for an hour and a half. Patterns make me dizzy and some of my favorite colors would give me a headache during down dog. This color really is a lovely, calming ocean blue and the mat is a good thickness. I've been very satisfied with the stickiness – it's just right. I haven't cleaned the mat yet so can't speak for how the stickiness survives a cleaning. This mat has proven to be very durable. My last mat started falling apart in the area where your toes end up, leaving chunks of mat for me to sweep up after every yoga class (I'm not exaggerating) after just a few weeks. It was embarrassing. I was dreading having another money-wasting experience with a brand I've never used, but this one has been sturdy and still looks new after several months. If and when it ever wears out, I will absolutely buy this brand again, but it seems like that need will be a long way away.

While I really like the length, color, and thickness of the this mat that's where the good qualities end. This mat is slippery. Not something you want when it comes to a yoga mat. I don't know what coating this company puts on their mats or why but they might as well have coated them in butter. I washed it off in the shower first to try and make it sticker, and when that didn't work, I washed it in the washing machine and put it thru 2 rinse cycles to try and get whatever coating off, but to no avail. I bought this so I wouldn't have to use the stinky, used, unclean ones at the gym, and to use at home. I used it for one class, and slid so bad, I had to go back to using the gym's to avoid injury. Keep your money or send it to someone else.

I really love this yoga mat. It's a bit pricey but it turned out to be quite worth it. I use it primarily as just a generic workout mat, but I've done some yoga on it as well. Cushioning (4.5/5): This yoga mat provided a lot better cushioning than I expected it to, especially for my knees. However, when I'm pressing my whole body weight onto a particular joint, like the bones in my hips, I can still feel a bit of pain. That being said, it still provides great overall cushioning for its thickness. Nonslip (4/5): No yoga mat is perfectly nonslip, but I have to say this much exceeded my expectations. The first time I used the mat it was actually extremely slippery for me, but all I did was wipe it down with some water and the next time I used it, it was great. I sweat a lot and still feel very stable on this mat. The side that is touching the floor doesn't budge an inch, no matter what you are doing. Balance (5/5): I have no problems balancing on this mat. Aesthetic (5/5): looks exactly like the picture, the color is beautiful!

Absolutely love Hugger Mugger yoga mats! They are exactly what i need for my daily practice. Along with a padded yoga blanket underneath or on top, they make for a durable daily use yoga mat. 100% recommend :-)

I want to start by saying that I bought this mat in 2012 (!!!) It's still in great condition and I'm really happy with the quality. It's durable for sure, it's been with me to 3 continents with no problems. This is the best exercise mat I've ever used because it's NOT slippery, but has a good grip (unless maybe you're really sweaty?). It's also the perfect thickness for me, not too thick but still cushy enough for a comfortable workout. The only reason why I might retire it is that our cats love it, too, and have sadly scratched it, causing some little pieces of the foam to come off. :( My husband loves it, too, so we might be buying 2 in the future. :) Thanks for a great product Hugger Mugger!
