How do you train your chickens to use a treadle feeder?

A simple training process helps chickens learn quickly. In the first week, introduce the feeder with open access. In week 2, lower access gradually and let your flock do the rest!

How many chickens does this treadle feeder support?

This 25lb feeder can support a flock of 6-8 hens, depending on breed, age, feed type, and feeding habits. It is a good fit for medium to larger backyard flocks.

Is it easy to install?

Yes. The feeder includes the parts and hardware needed for assembly. Once set up, place it on a flat, stable surface in your coop or run where your birds can easily reach it.

Does this treadle feeder keep pests out?

Yes. The step-on door stays closed when not in use, helping keep out rats, mice, squirrels, and wild birds. This helps reduce feed theft, mess, and waste in the coop or run. It also reduces contamination from pests.

How often do you have to refill the feeder?

Refill frequency depends on flock size and feed type, but the 25 lb capacity can feed about 10 adult hens for up to 10 days. Smaller flocks may go longer between refills.
