In today's western cultures, the typical pregnancy focuses on the baby to the exclusion of the woman herself, so that the entire experience has become more about preparing for the baby's arrival than looking closely at oneself to prepare emotionally for all of the changes that creating a new life brings. Sacred Pregnancy was written to help the pregnant woman journey within herself to prepare for the birth of her baby. Sacred Pregnancy is a gorgeous four-color book especially created for mothers-to-be to reflect on the many personal milestones of the full gestation period of a pregnancy. With beautiful professional photos that correspond to each topic, Sacred Pregnancy also features a journal space for the pregnant woman to record her thoughts and feelings. Each week the mother-to-be is given information on her baby, her body, and her spirit and is asked to reflect on these via the topic of the week, which touches on a variety of issues such as sexuality, fears about labor, becoming a mother, courage, rite of passage, adornment, body image, meditation, and sisterhood to name a few. Mothers-to-be are invited to look deeply at the issues unique to their journey and find a centered, peaceful place to live their pregnancy fully. Lastly, Sacred Pregnancy includes place for the new mother to record her birth story and a large resource section on various birthing options and supports for pregnant women. “From the spiritual (how to visualize your perfect birth) to the practical (a large section on birthing options), this pregnancy journal is a spiritual adviser and supportive doula all in one.” — Fit Pregnancy magazine For more information, visit the Sacred Pregnancy website. Review: Sacred Pregnancy Book and Movement - went into it as I would read the book so I could pass the information on to younger mothers since the topic was not relevant to me (I’m 43 and past my childbearing years). Yet I thoroughly enjoyed this book on so many different levels, from the art work, the colors of the pages, to the topics and content. When going through the book the artwork of different women was just amazing to see their joy with not only their pregnancy but with their bodies. I think for many women who struggle with body image these pictures will be very empowering and uplifting. The pictures of nature brought to mind how the mother earth supports us and when women are with child there is that call to go back to the earth to feel supported as well as our role to support Mother Nature. There are books where you read where all cold, sterile white paper is used; this book used colored glossy pages which were just so comforting and visually calming. From a monetary stand point I do know that white paper would have been cheaper, yet I’m glad Anni splurged and printed her writing on thick, glossy and colored paper. With my son being almost 19 years old I did not think the topics would be helpful to me since at this point there was nothing I could do about the thoughts I had before he was born. And I won’t say I was resentful for having this on my to do list yet it was not a high priority, since I could not go back in time. However, that soon changed for me as I got a few weeks into the book! I know at the beginning I did not think one could go back in time and I’ve even wrote that down but I was wrong. I did not have any journals and frankly I did not have that many memories of the time I was pregnant with Caleb due to the way my life at that time was. Yet reading this book I was amazed at the issues that came up for me and how more in depth my journal writing has been on these topics. Week 24 on having a boy sparked a great talk with my son over a nice dinner out for just the two of us. And with that I feel it has drawn us a little closer to each other. I believe that with the beauty of the book (again woo hoo for the artwork and paper) more women will be drawn to this book and the Sacred Living Movement. Any woman can go to their local bookstore and find books on pregnancy and what happens week by week. Yet none of these books bring the spirit to the womb. Which is something this book does from page one to the very last. I believe that the more we can get this book and the Sacred Living Moment into the hands of women the more self-empowerment we can show other women that they have. Self love, self education and a return to their spirit will also come from this book and with that I believe that we can change lives of women for the better. One more area I feel would improve with the spreading of this work is if we have informed, loving and empowered women I believe that we can then make some real and improved changes in how we view birth in this country. Pregnant women can change the way their doctors, hospitals and other family members think and how they see a woman with child. Again I loved this book and what it brought to me so that bring this message to other women. Even with my being post childbearing age I will always keep this sacred work on my alter at home as well as the writings and feelings behind the words in my heart. I believe this book and the Sacred movement behind it will bring beauty, comfort and joy to women worldwide that only another woman can bring. Review: this book was my best friend, I felt understood - When I was pregnant, this book was my best friend, I felt understood, and felt cared for, I felt guided, a felt like I had someone, who "is in this with me". The night before the beginning of each week I was excited and happy knowing I could read the next chapter in the morning. I loved the "pairing sections" and even though I did not take the time to journal on each chapter, I followed some of the advice, I created a sacred space, a candle, I started art journaling and I listened to Nina's cd on the way to my midwife appointments ( and I can tell that my son loves the music he heard so early in his in utero life). The Sacred Pregnancy book truly opens a gateway to the Sacred Pregnancy movement, it goes so far beyond kind words and gorgeous pictures. It made me a more mindful mama, inspired me reflect on topics like gender preferences and added a spiritual dimension to my pregnancy. Now I was in a situation I never expected to be, being pregnant and giving birth in a different country with different rules and standards and different public opinions about birth and motherhood and no financial support - something I just took for granted to have if I ever become a mother, so I spent the majority of my pregnancy being sad, mad and homesick. Anni's book taught be centering practice and sometimes I would read the same chapter over and over because reading supporting empowering words made me feel at peace. This book is the heartfelt and caring and supportive antidote to all the bad "what to expect" publications who teach an expecting mother nothing but worries. For the next revision I am hoping for a chapter covering week 41 or even 42, for us induction fearing late mamas and maybe a little more international considerations, what I mean by that is, that in some countries you can bring your own midwife to a hospital or the option of skipping certain exams might be not applicable everywhere - all the places that have mother's who need this book.

A "GEM" 💐🌺💐
As I reflect on this GEM “Sacred Pregnancy” it takes me back to a very transformative moment in my life. I can remember finding out I was pregnant, and not feeling very happy, more nervousness than anything. After losing 5 pregnancies, I was fearful to have to walk that hurtful journey again. I tried my best to think positive and push forward. Then, one day I got a call from the doctor and he says “Pansay, I’m sorry, your numbers are dropping….you are miscarrying” I can’t even put into words the massive hurt I felt” I sat in my truck, crying then called my dad(he raised me alone, my best friend), it took me a minute to even get the words out through my tears. I told him the report I had just received. Again! I’m loosing this baby. The words I heard next, changed my life and awakened something in me, forced me too trust my innate wisdom! He said “Baby listen to me, And you listen to me Good! I know what the doctor said BUT let me tell you, what my GOD said! Your baby is just fine, and you will be just fine also.” Dad, told me to wipe my tears and go get a good meal. The love and steadfast confidence that I heard in those words he spoke to me, transcended and spoke to my spirit. From Spirit to Spirit…TRUST. From that day on, I honed my power, I trusted my inner voice and I took back my body and my baby. That beautiful baby will be 8 years old in a few weeks💝 I said all of that to say, that the Sacred Pregnancy Book pours sacred love and unwavering, ancient mother wisdom into you. Anni’s words speaks to the weary, nervous or insecure mother. Transcending, a universal connection of sisterhood and maternal oneness with our lineage of mothers. This, gives us confidence in our bodies and the process of nature. Week by week this book supports the pregnancy journey, with advice and holistic remedies for the physical experience, educates on the growth of baby, And provides nurturing food for the spirit. What I absolutely love, is how precise this book taps into the many emotions we woman experience during pregnancy. Sometimes ashamed to admit, afraid of judgment or don't have anyone to communicate these feelings with. Anni makes sure you know that “it's ok to feel, and encourages reflection, meditation and journaling to process all of those emotions. Stepping into the most mystical, self discovering journey of a woman’s life, transforming from Maiden to Mother…..My prayer is for NO woman to walk this journey alone. From my spirit to yours, PLEASE LET SACRED PREGNANCY WALK WITH YOU💐

Starting a Revolution in Holistic and Woman-Centered Birth Preparation
This book is a much needed addition to the pregnancy preparation market. This is an absolutely woman-centered guide to helping a woman be present throughout her pregnancy and gives imminently practical tips for emotional, physical, and spiritual preparation for her transition to motherhood and engaging with the new life growing inside. Anni has taken great care to engage different learning styles, providing exercises and activities for each week that touch on different kinds of sensory experiences, including journal writing, music exploration and nutritionally packed menus that will excite the taste buds. Although every aspect of the book may not appeal to all readers, there are valuable pieces that will apply to everyone be it their first, second or even fifth pregnancy. It is a guide unlike others currently available and is going to change the discussions we are having about pregnancy and birth with both women and their partners. As a doula, childbirth educator and breastfeeding counselor, this book is going to be one of my new go-to guides for helping moms prepare themselves for pregnancy, childbirth and parenting the new additions to their families.

This is not your typical pregnancy book...
This is not your typical pregnancy book... It is a guide, journal and true work of art. First of all it is beautifully designed. The pages are full color high gloss works of art with images and photos such as those found in high-end magazines or hard-back coffee table books. At the beginning of the book the author, Anni Daulter who is also the founder the Sacred Pregnancy movement dedicates the book to her husband, their 4 children as well as "all women who cross over that threshold from maiden to motherhood with confidence, awareness and the fierce energy it takes to guide their children through life." I feel so grateful to have connected with the Sacred Pregnancy community on Facebook [...]as I am currently pregnant with my first child and just entered my 2nd trimester. I am also planning to have a water birth in our home and I've discovered there are many books that talk about natural births, home births, the stages of pregnancy, the stages of the fetus, the stages of labor, the birth process, etc. yet not that many that address the spiritual and emotional changes that address the journey on becoming a mother. The book is meant to be digested slowly as it is composed of 40 topics to be reviewed, reflected upon over a period of 40 weeks during your pregnancy. Topics include Creating Sacred Space, Meditation, Cravings, Expectation, Body Image, Mindful Eating, Nurturing Yourself, Trusting Your Body, Nesting, Blessingway and Naming Ceremonies, Visualizing Your Ideal Birth, Trust, Surrender and Rites of Passage. I received my copy of Sacred Pregnancy at 15 weeks and spent an afternoon curled up with it. It is meant to serve as one of life's "deep drinks", an experience that we should slow down and with presence soak up and enjoy. Sacred Pregnancy is so much more than a beautiful book. It is also a powerful growing movement and a community of women dedicated to empowering their sisters in honoring their bodies and souls on their journeys from maiden into motherhood. If you are expecting or searching for a gift for a mom-to-be the Sacred Pregnancy book is to be enjoyed, treasured and shared.

Nice book however not the best if you already have ...
Nice book however not the best if you already have other birth books. Not a ton of substance. I think I was expecting more. It's more for journaling. This would be a great gift for a friend or family member who is pregnant.

A Must Have/Must Read for ALL Expectant Mothers
If you are familiar with Anni Daulter's other books, then you know the deep dedication, love and energy she pours into each book. This book, by far, takes the cake and goes beyond. This book is rich in love, experience, and reminding an expectant mother how truly sacred she is as well. This isn't your typical guide to tell you what to expect. This book is so much more! It is a week-to-week guide, a journal, a companion, and an open door for all women to the community of sisterhood. I have birthed 5 babies of my own into this world, and wish I would have had this book available at the time for even just ONE of my pregnancies. Anni serves to remind all mothers-to-be how truly valuable they are as women, and how important it is to speak up and let whomever you choose to help you birth this baby exactly what you would like to see happen for this birth. She reminds you that you are sacred. Filled with love, amazing advice, musical & book pairings and so much more. This book is so important, in my opinion, to all expectant mothers. There are several important messages to be found, from knowing that you are not alone to realizing you have choices within your pregnancy and birth. I had a copy of this book for myself that I ended up gifting to my daughter's teacher. I received a note back from her thanking me & telling me that this book really resonated in her and fell in line with how she feels about pregnancy & birth. More than a book, more than a journal, Sacred Pregnancy is a journey; a journey for women to re-connect with themselves, the elements around them, and the babies growing inside. I recommend this as a must have, must read book for all expectant mothers regardless of how many babies you have previously brought into this world. I would put this book above other guides and make this the first book I give to someone expecting a baby.

it is like crowning your pregnancy
I saw Sacred Pregnancy book when I was pregnant and back then I did not buy it. The book called my attention from its beauty but when I had a peak view of it it looked more like a pregnancy journal, and I wanted to create one of my own cause I felt none of the ones I saw was my style of journaling... I can see now i just did not spend enough time with the book in my hands! I love the way Anni gently guides and supports us,like a close girlfriend! we feel uplifted and loved, often reading exactly what we need to remember in that moment. I love the images, the space to journal (talk about holding space! This is the way to do it from afar!) and the resources, the websites, books, all suggestions,so nice to just receive the thread to follow on our own... Definitely a gift to all my pregnant friends!
