Leo Jaymz TL Style Electric Guitar with US Flag Design - High Gloss Mahogany Body and Hard Maple Neck - High Transparent Acrylic Pickguard (US Flag)

I got the Union Jack Les Paul well over a year ago, and I like it. I've always thought the Union Jack was so rock and roll - for a basic, American Boy next door type! Just a cool rock and roll look. I grew up with Def Leppard and Van Halen, etc. So maybe the Union Jack stuck with me from Def Lep. Anyway - man the Les Paul is a good guitar. I dig it. Not perfect, but it's rock solid, and plays and sounds great. So I've been noticing the Tele for quite a while. Checking it out. And I finally thought... man if it's even decent, and close to the Les Paul... then what a steal. So I grabbed one. Got it 2 days ago, and pulled it out on Friday night to have some fun, and start my week-end with a blast. Wow! I am blown away. The Union Jack Telecaster is awesome! I mean.... it's crazy good. For the price I paid... I can't even believe what I got. It was a stone-cold killer.... right out of the box. All I did was tune it up. Required a little time for the strings to stretch. A few tune-ups. Then... I mean it just plays great. And sounds excellent. I am in love with this beauty. Tiny tiny bit of string buzz on the A-String. But I think a really small truss-rod adjustment will knock that right out. Action is medium-low and perfect for me. The pick-ups are extremely microphonic, which doesn't bother me a bit, really. I'm not going on World Tour. But just know... very microphonic. I am a rock guy - and my main concern is the bridge pickup. It's solid. Not incredible. But rock and roll capable, and solid. Got some punch. I can do pinch harmonics, and it will rock. Also - mine has zero 60-cycle hum on higher gain settings on my Fender GTX50. Zero. Maybe I got lucky. Maybe they shielded it really well. I don't know yet. The guitar is killer. Get one now, before they go way up. Actually, I am about to order a second one, b'c I have a (actual Fender) roasted maple neck laying around from a project that did not materialize. It matches the distressed look of this guitar's finish. So I'm going to throw that on the second one, and throw in a set of Fender Hot Classic pickups, and really hot rod that thing. But if I'm being honest, the first one I got was so good.... I don't have the heart to wreck it! I'm leaving it as is... and will do the second one.

Have to change: Strings. The ones it comes with work but not worth keeping Should change: Bridge. Strings are not through body but should be drilled and strung through the back. Parts are about $10. Doesn’t have to be done but should be. Tuners would be a justified upgrade. The stock tuners hold a tune but need adjustment more frequently than I’m used to. Pickups look cheap but sound good. Not a necessary thing but could be targeted for some time in the future. Clean and oil the neck. Comes a little dry from factory. Could upgrade: the string under saddles on the headstock. The look super cheap. Overall, the guitar plays really well and I enjoy playing it a lot more than I expected. I find myself gravitating two picking this guitar at more than my others, and with the mahogany body resonates well even unplugged. I like the weight of it as it seems heavy, which is my preference. The string height had to be slightly adjusted, but overall came out of the box set up pretty well. Worth what I paid for it and probably a good Guitar to upgrade in the future. The body and the neck alone were worth the purchase. The graphic of the American flag looks a little cheesy in person. I would consider stripping that off and just going natural. But if you’re into that, this manufacturer sells a kit that is basically that version. I would recommend this guitar, and I would buy it again.

It is a very nice looking guitar, strings are definitely light it was double boxed and light foam bagged inside the gig bag with cable picks and tremolo bar inside the pocket. It's a light bag but it offers some protection and allows for portability. However the number 1 fret was taller and appeared obviously wider. I have files and gritted erasers and fixed the issue myself rather than going through the return process. The strings were sacrificed to accommodate the fret work. And a once over tightening up all nuts and screws. The fretboard and other frets were done nicely and practically all the ends were even and the tops were buffed and smooth. Once I got everything tightened up, restrung,and in tune it played well, yet a little quiet until I raised the pickups and with minimal fine tuning left to do. It's playing almost as easily as my Ibanez. The fretboard has a compound radius of 14" at headstock and 12" from around the 13th to 12th frets where the transition completes. The bridge is intonated for the 14" radius and allows clearance of the 12th and up frets when the tall fret was evened out. The satin finish neck is fast and easy to transition over the entire length of the neck. The price point and most of the detail make it a good value. The tonal variations of the ssh pickups give more options for a more varied playlist.

My rating is actually 3.5 stars and that's mainly because the bridge pickup was defective and didn't work. Otherwise I would have given it a 4.5 rating and if they would have sent a replacement bridge pickup. I wanted to return the guitar and get another, but the price went up right after I purchased this one. The good is the fretwork is really good better than a lot of big name Player Series and CV guitars. No sharp feet ends (reason I didn't return it and the price increase). I did inquire with Amazon support and Leo Jaymz to see if they would just send me a working replacement bridge pickup, but they just suggested returning the guitar. The neck is comfortable and body is very nice. Nice build quality over all. The bridge buzzes if the saddle screws are not firmly set. Otherwise it's fine. This is not a string thru guitar, but the bridge has the holes if you wanted to drill the body. I purchased a set of Banworks alnico 5 fiber bobbin pickups ($27) and now the guitar plays, sounds and looks great! The original pickups that were in the guitar they sent me were not ceramic, but the new pickups sound much better than the original neck pickup. Over all I'm very satisfied with the look, playability and sound of this guitar. It did need a better setup and intonation. After I purchased this guitar Leo Jaymz and Amazon are now offering a tele style guitar similar to this model called the Pop Caster for about $40-50 more. The Pop Caster is a string thru has Alnico pickups, locking tuners and a roasted maple neck.

I’ve heard so much about these budget guitars and after years of buying name brands and reading many reviews I decided to take a chance on this guitar. Wow, was I surprised. First, the finish is absolutely flawless, has a nice black binding and is a beautiful green flame top. I love the clear pickguard, brings out the whole guitar. One small turn of the trussrod and it was good to go out of the box. The action and intonation were spot on and I measured the resistance and inductance of the pickups with a LCR meter and is comparable to name brands and sounds great. Beautiful mahogany body , maple neck and very nice abalone recessed inlays, never seen that before. The frets are rounded off and no issue there and I measured with a fret rocker and they are all level. For $99, it’s an absolutely beautiful well built guitar. Maybe I got lucky but I’m very happy with mine. Good luck!

After looking at some reviews online for some inexpensive electric guitars, Leo Jaymz seemed decently well reviewed. A coupon for this popped up and I grabbed the US Flag one. It is gorgeous. Also, the flag looks colored into the wood and is not a print. I say that because you can clearly see the grain pattern and I was looking at images of other ones of this same type and the grain patterns do not match. Which makes it more likely to not be a print glued on top and then sealed in. Which is usually the common trick to do with these cheaper guitars to make them look more expensive. Out of the box it wasn't tuned as expected, but was intonated fairly decent. The action was just a smidge high, but very playable. The set screws in the saddles were not cranked all the way down or up so there was plenty of adjustability to get the actions and intonation where I want them. The strings are decent for what they are worth. I am still fairly new to playing and only play for myself so I am not looking to drop super expensive strings on a new guitar I buy right away if I can help it. Tuners move smoothly and adjust well for me. The pickups are decent for me. Its a great looking, great playing guitar that needed very little setup to get going. For the price as a new player there isn't much more I could ask for.

I wanted this to be great so badly. Knowing you get what you pay for I picked this up due to the many reviews and YouTube videos I saw. When I attempted to do a basic "Setup" the truss rod literally fell into the Body of the guitar from the Truss rod plate at the tuning keys. I've been playing guitar for 35 years but never once had to go fishing for a truss rod. I decided to return it immediately because if the neck isn't right nothing else would ever be. Too bad.

This is a nice-looking guitar for the money. I bought two of these and both of them had the same issue. When they filed the fret ends on both sides of the neck they took too much off which stripped the lacquer and left exposed raw wood on the fretboard edges. The other issue I have with these guitars is they are not playable once they are in tune and need a full setup before they can be played. I have other Leo Jamyz guitars and they have all had their quality and setup issues which is a bummer because for the money you're getting a lot of instrument. I think they are worth trying, just know that they may need some work. If you don't know how to work on guitars you'll probably have to spend additional money for a setup.

A rather jolly guitar for the money, excellent quality, very attractive and shiny, featureing a tiger stripe finish on the top, a solid mahogany body with black binding, two single coil pickups, the neck is quite substantial which I like, sure to attract some admiring comments when it’s out being played in public, it comes with a lead and Allen keys, no gig bag or strap, you may find some minor imperfections when put under a microscope but you can’t complain at this price, will I upgrade any parts? probably not, what’s the point? I’ll just enjoy it as it is for now.

Sounds sweet out of the box. Needed almost no prepwork. I would recommend it to anyone.

A few words of praise for the Leo Jaymz guitars are not enough! I have bought a number of them, because I know that the same high level of build, quality and sound they produce is far better than I initially expected; which makes them worth a lot more than they cost. Truly excellent, but makes me think that if I can such these great guitars for; when compared with others, such a low cost, how much of what others are charging goes directly into that companies profits!

I didn't want to write a review until I had enough time playing and adjusting this guitar. Out of the box it was almost playable. The action looked good and the only adjustment I made was on the saddle of the low E string. At first it had a slight fret buzz and the intonation was sharp. For the price, this guitar has the potential to be a gem and the finish looks great. The first couple of days playing it, I cut myself a few times. I filed down a few sharp frets and changed the strings which were horrible to begin with. If anyone is considing this guitar as a start to a project, do it. If you just want a beginner guitar with good value, it's here if you can make a few adjustments. UPDATE: I tried to remove the cheap plastic nut as I would with any budget guitar. The nut was glued with some really heavy duty stuff. While trying to remove it, I cracked the fretboard. Tried ordering a leo jaymz telecaster kit with the same headstock so I could use the neck, they sent the cheaper version without the headstock I wanted.

She's playable right out of the box. After a quick tuning, this super-affordable guitar has proven to be a great addition to my collection. For this price, I'll be buying more Leo Jaymz guitars very shortly 😉👍
