Phenomenal Cutter!!!
***Itโs been 3 months since I wrote this review. I still love the cutter. Itโs worked perfectly for my needs. My latest project was cutting Siser Easy Weed HTV to make some Tshirts. I bought the rolls off Amazon in 12โ widths. They worked flawlessly. The cutter does have some quirks like needing to make sure itโs connected and talking before sending the file but thatโs easy to do and the cutter walks you through it each time. I also didnโt know the difference between servo and stepper cutters at the time as Iโve only had stepper motor cutters. If you need absolute precision because the material you are cutting is very expensive and cannot afford mistakes then a servo cutter is what you want. This would be for cutting window tint or Ppf for example. Only a servo motor cutter would know at all times what itโs cutting versus a stepper knows just how many times it needs to move left to right to do the job. They cost a lot more of course. If you are just cutting vinyl itโs not needed especially if you are a hobbyist. This isnโt my first cutter although it is my first one in 17 years with my first one being a Roland Stika SX-8 that has been nearly bulletproof. Compared to that old technology, this cutter is incredible in every way. Itโs fast, itโs accurate, itโs easy to use. I did need to make a call to tech support which was pleasant. I called because the pinch roller on the far right was stuck and I wasnโt sure if it was supposed to move. I was pressing and pulling so hard I was afraid of breaking it so I called Support to make sure it was supposed to move. The reason being it wasnโt over the feed roller causing misfeeds. Eventually I got it free which was stuck on that screw head. Setting up the blade was straightforward and I made sure the Test Cuts worked first. I used the pen instead of the knife for early testing to make sure everything worked to avoid damaging the blade. I imported some Illustrator files into the Vinyl Master app and it cut the files flawlessly and so fast I thought it didnโt do anything. Itโs amazing this cutter is half the cost of my tiny 17 year old cutter and so much more sophisticated! If you have never set up a cutter before, get some help from someone knowledgeable because the cutter worked out of the box for me.

Works as advertised, no missing parts or features, included parts and supplies get you going right away.
Arrived slightly ahead of time with no shipping damage. Clear instructions and all hardware plus the promised starter supplies were in the box. This comes with everything you need to get started except a computer. I did not review all of the documentation because I am able to configure and run CNC machine tools and have also built my own 3d printers and other things. If you're a beginner with this sort of tooling, better have a machine savvy buddy available to help you get going. The pros: - This thing is big, like my old D-size H.P. pen plotter. It can also handle pretty small pieces of label stock, due to the 3 movable pinch rollers. - It is nice and fast. - It came with three cutter styles in a small case which is marked clearly with depth setting examples and also states which style to use for what kind of job. It also came with a test pen holder for doing check plots, including a fresh ball point pen insert, ready to go. - Both USB and serial cables are provided. - The license key for the pro version of the cutting software was included and I was able to download, install and activate it without any issues. - For a fellow like myself, this machine was a snap to get configured. One casual evening of effort to get a perfect cut using the included materials. The only con I found was that the driver software is not signed. For windows versions after 7, this means you need to jump through hoop[s to get the drivers installed. I didn't take off a star for this, because the driver appears to be a clean design. Giving this 5 stars, because it's a nice, clean design with no out of box failures and everything works exactly as advertised. I have no idea how it would hold up to high volume, but I don't cut vinyl signs for a living so I'm not worried.

Simple Setup and Simple to Use
Haven't worked with vinyl cutting machines since the early 90's. I am constantly wanting to make stencils, label stuff and create decals. Also, found an option to do small side jobs (banners, window lettering, etc.). This machine does all of this an much more. This 871-MK2 is a 34in plotter/cutter that was easy to setup (only needed a screw driver) and after you download the cutting-designing software (box comes with a code you type in after you download the software to activate) you can be up and cutting vinyl in minutes. The machine was already calibrated and worked instantly out of the box. Comes with a "pen" attachment so you can ink out your design (on the back of your vinyl) to see it before you cut. Getting the blade mounted in the holder is a little tricky but after a few adjustments (set to less than 1/64 of an inch of blade sticking out of the holder) and correcting the pressure setting this machine cuts quickly and accurately with little to no setup-effort. Feed the vinyl under the rollers and simply clamp down. Set the blade-rotor mechanism to it's orgin. Design your vinyl image, sign, words, etc. (or take your logo, graphic and use the "trace" feature included in the software to "vectorize" the image) and wa-la, it cut's it out accurately and fast. I've traced and cut about 20 graphics and a couple hundred letters/words and it has not missed a beat. The software is simple (especially if you've had experience) and the drivers installed on Windows 10 Home with no problem. Software comes with hundreds of fonts and tools. There is no delay from sending the "job" from your computer to the cutter. It's almost faster than an old laser printer. If this things doesn't throw a bearing, rod or get buggy, won't calibrate, etc. then I'll change my review to LOVE. Going online now to buy more vinyl, squeegee's, transfer tape. Hopefully, I can actually find a roll of 34" vinyl (kit comes with a few rolls/different colors of 24" vinyl at about 5 linear feet on each roll). Comes with only one squeegee. Comes with 3 cutting blades. one for thick, regular and thin vinyls. Has a USB interface for the computer as well as an old 15pin serial port option. Power-cable port is on the left side, USB and serial ports at on the right side. Comes with a USB cable and the serial cable (which nobody uses anymore). The stand, frame and body are mostly cheap aluminum but plenty sturdy. Stand is on wheels and cutter sits into the top of the stand and does not fasten to the stand (so you can take it off the stand easily and set it on a table). You cannot cut vinyl without a computer. The small LED screen with push button controls on the cutter is for positioning, resetting, testing and calibrating only. Power cable disconnects from machine. Already made a small bumper sticker for my friends car that says "I like to eat my own dandruff" and secretly stuck it on his bumper. Good times.

Very professional and easy software
This is the first vinyl cutter I bought and while it was scary to learn at first, it was easy to get the hang of and I started to make and sell stickers with ease. The large size also helps a lot as I dont feel limited to just having to cut paper length, and I can also use car wraps as material to cut on. Excellent product and I love the software the most. Reading reviews about other vinyl cutters, I saw most had subscription based software which deterred me from buying those cheaper options. This software is extremely easy, all I do is take a pic from online, copy + paste it in, and convert to lines. It gives me a slider bar to focus the negative and positive tones, and another option for how smooth or sharp the lines will be. Very simple and decal design comes out looking clean every time. Also I like how there is a "test area" feature before I cut out my design. It hovers the cutter on the perimeter of my material so I know exactly what my boundaries are going to be and if I have the sticker paper clamped in right (otherwise it sometimes bends if I have it at an angle, and the test area will show that for me so I can readjust before cutting). Another thing is the measurements. I can scale the image on the software however I like and when I go to print, it tells me at the top exactly how many inches by how many inches it will be. The only con I have is the software is only limited to one computer per product code. You can switch computers but you have to deactivate your product code for one computer and add to the other, and do that every time before switching which can be annoying if you plan on using multiple computers or sharing the cutter. The cutter itself is large and takes up a bit of space. You will need to find a good spot to place it in your room next to your computer and a power outlet. I like to place all the excess material and tools underneath it, as there is plenty of space for it there.

The setup is a PITA!!
It may be the best cutter in the World, but.... I used two different USCutter plotters for four years at the TechShop.com....they both worked great. The problem with this one is that it took SEVEN HOURS to get it to work. What is the "Computer Number"? Well, it is not the serial number. It is not the Windows Software number. After searching for an hour on Google, I found it. It is a 30 digit number...with spaces...I could not tell one how to find it again. The "serial number" is NOT ANYWHERE ON ANYTHING...no, the serial number listed on the plotter as the serial number is not it. Search around on the internet for a while and the seller emails it to you when they find you looking. Of course, I was setting it up on a different computer than the one with my email on it.... US CUTTER: YOU NEED TO INCLUDE A BY THE NUMBERS SETUP SHEET. Every piece of hardware I have ever bought has one. I am not an idiot, but I sure as hell felt like one setting this up. And my CD drive does not accept the mini CD. I found more info on YouTube from USCutter today...maybe putting a working link there would have been better?? I'm sure the plotter will perform awesome, but it's going to take a few days for me to get over the seven hours I spent yesterday...and, I had help from three guys I consider gurus, one had been thru this three times with USCutter plotter previous to mine. Got it working great the second day. Vinyl cutting extremely well! One star for setup, 5 stars for operation once setup.

Exactly what I was looking for!!
I have used large industrial cutters, engravers, lasers, 3d printers and other CNC machines in the past. So I have a rather strong background in operating machines of this nature. That being said, I purchased this MH series cutter for hobby work at home, as an entry level cutter, I can't say enough about it, the price is right, and I was truly surprised with the ease of setup, and how quickly I was up and operational. Straight out of the box, the cutter base was easy to assemble (took about 20 minutes altogether and within 30 minutes I had cut my first set of stickers). The only issue I had during assembly was that the instructions were a little vague, so make sure you look up USCutter's video on youtube or on their website. Their video shows how to put the cutter together, ground it, hook it up to your computer, install the software and sets you up for your first cut. The software is definitely entry level as well, but is easy to navigate. While I use Adobe Illustrator and Rhino 3d to create my vector images, they import into the provided software with no issues. The only con I have with this purchase, is that USCutter requires you to keep the original box the cutter was shipped in, or your warranty is void. I have a small shop and it would be nice to be able to dispose of the box, but I understand that it is the best way to ship it back for servicing should you have any issues. All in all, great product, great price, and when purchasing as a kit, there is plenty of material for you to get started.
