Excellent Book. Very Inspirational.
I love historical fiction. I also love Bible based stories. Books that promote wholesome family values. I love that the plots are so intriguing, and there's never an opportunity for boredom. I read these books several years ago, and now I'm having Kindle read to me while I do other things. I highly recommend Jack Cavanaugh and specifically The American Family Portrait Series.

Amazing
This book was super good it had history, action, mystery and romance i love this book when I read it if felt as if I was in the book having the same adventures as Andrew Morgan did. And it was really exciting. When I finished reading a chapter i would be like "what's going to happen next " so I kept reading. Really good book. I would definitely read again even though I have already read it.😊

History alive in the page
I have been researching my family tree for years and have traced my father's side to the first setters, a devout family that was persecuted by English law, one John Rogers a martyr for his faithful work in helping William Tyndale write and print the bible in English. It was his grandsons, the Stone brothers who left England. This band of brothers, carried their spiritual heritage to America. Two settled in Watertown, Massachusetts and arrived in 1629, two younger brothers arrived in 1639 to settle Guilford,Connecticut, and another settled Hartford, Connecticut, there is a statue of him in Hartford and in England as well. This book took me in a journey with those ancients who paved the way for me and my brood, and this book brought the struggles they endured to light. My grandfather carried on their faith, all the generations, he was a minister in a long line of ministers dating to the start of our beloved country.

The was a great series that spanning major parts of history and all linked by family.
Jack Cavanaugh - one of my favorite historical fiction authors! Where are you - please write more books! A man’s, man and writer, but enthralling for female readers as well. All characters are researched, believably real and often he adds information on the actual events at the end of his books. The was a great series that spanning major parts of history and all linked by family.

J Cavanaugh, The Puritans is excellent
This is the begining of a series and I have read all of them 8 years ago. I am now enjoying them with my 85 yr old mother on Apple IPAD and I am having my 11 year old read them as well. We are all thrilled. Clean, family oriented historical fictions with a lot of research for each time period to help you learn or relearn history in a friendly hard to put down series.

The Puritans - Character
Jack Cavanaugh does it again! Though "The Puritans" is one of his earlier works, it is a great historical novel that propels you into the time period. Following the character of Drew Morgan through his life experience, self discovery and faith makes you pause and reflect about your own character. It was great to understand the time period historically. I personally learned a lot and want to read the Geneva Bible because of Mr. Cavanaugh's thorough research.

For History Lovers
For those of us who enjoy reading about the days before we were even thought of, this is a great book about out beginnings in England. It is difficult for us to understand the hardships our forbears endured. It is not only well written but Jack Cavanaugh brings us along very well in this series of events.

This book was an enjoyable read. Christian history is a fascinating arena. The fiction part of the book was well played and full of adventure.

A grand family tale begins here...
I must admit that I was unsure whether I would like this book. I'd never read any of Jack Cavanaugh's books before but I was willing to give it a try. Well, what a great read! This book has everything you would want from historic fiction - action, intrigue, humour, good guys and bad guys, romance and a real sense of christian values underpinning the story. Drew Morgan, our young hero-in-waiting, is looking for a cause to fight for. As he leaves the family home and embarks on his adventures to find his purpose in life he meets a wide range of characters, from Bishop Laud to James Cooper, who provide drama and direction towards his goal. My favourite character must be the Puritan Christopher Matthews, who greets his family each morning with the words, "What can we do for God today?"I would not hesitate to recommend you read this book. Once you have finished this one there are eight more to go! Thank you Jack Cavanaugh.
