Does OK for what it costs....
I have had 2 of these alarms installed to two different vehicles during the last 5 years or so. One was returned for a full replacement within the first year...replacement is still in use. The other started to drain the battery on the vehicle it was installed in after maybe 4-5 years...so I've just bought a new replacement.I find these alarms easy to install...but I hardwire them to the battery...and do not use the clip. There is not usually a lot of room under the hood of most vehicles...and the small size of this alarm is a big advantage. 2 wires to connect...one to the battery...one to ground...stretch out the antenna.I try to mount them pointing down in an area free of high heat or water spray.I've found that the range stated for the transmitter is probably more like 100'. The remotes are very rugged..if it gets wet...just dry it out...and the battery lasts a long time...have had no issues with the buttons. At times this alarm can be affected by large temperature changes(or by sheet metal triggering the shock sensor?)...and might be occasionally affected by other remotes or devices made to disrupt alarms. The sensitivity can be set to where you want it...otherwise even rain can set one off. The current sensor works pretty well...but you need to be sure your dome light works. It will inform you as to whether it was set off by shock or current. You can set up 2 different alarms in 2 vehicles to respond to the same remote. The newest version has a different siren sound...and it seems to be louder. Also it will reset itself if triggered. As far as transmitter range and other behavior...can't say yet.IMO....for the DIYer...this is a relatively easy alarm to install and use.* Still using these...I replace them every few years...have no record as to how long they last...maybe 4-5 years? Usually the remotes seem to fail...battery or left out in the rain?

Good option instead of not having an alarm
This arrived in the mail today and I installed it within 15 minutes. The metal Mount that it comes with is decent but they use a plastic connector. The plastic connector broke and so I merely liquid nailed it to the inside of my engine compartment, and attached the ground wire to the frame.Works pretty well. I played with the sensitivity but found the factory is pretty good.I can arm and disarm from my bedroom in my place. It's gone off twice on the super sensitive which is why I sent back to factory spec.Easy peasy. The alarm goes off if you try opening a door.I like it and I hope it's a good deterrent.UPDATE:Husband update:The alarm went off twice last night. Once because a stupidly loud car. The second time, I went outside and saw a guy on a bicycle riding away. Not sure if he caused it or what but I have a guy feeling he was.Very happy. Will get another for the wife's car

No shock sensitivity at all
Easy install. Loud enough. Not sensitive to shock at all even on most sensitive setting.I got this in the mail yesterday and installed it according to the directions today. To drill all three screws in I needed to remove the bolt holding the alarm to the bracket, which the instructions did not specify, but otherwise it was easy to exactly follow the directions. I installed it in the center of the back engine compartment wall (away from the heater and exhaust pipes) of a 1988 Honda Civic (not much extra room in the engine compartment). I ran the red positive line up to the battery directly and clipped it to the main wire which caused the device to chirp. Installation complete!I then tried setting the sensitivity. I held the "finder" button down until the device chirped, thenhit thecar hard. No response. I hit harder. Still no response. I opened and slammed the door shut. I lifted the front by the bumper and dropped it. This last was the lightest force it would respond to!I tried again, this time tapping the alarm box itself to see how much direct shock would be needed to set it off, and even that required a good sudden smack to it.I can only conclude that the shock sensitivity on this device is way too low, to the point of being next to useless. The voltage dip detection, however, worked out of the gate. Since the dome light bulb is burnt out opening the door did not set it off. However turning the lights on or attempting to start the motor did.Of course, if a thief can get into the vehicle and open the hood they can easily disable the alarm by unplugging it, so the shock sensor being broken makes this pretty much useless as a deterrent except against the stupidest crooks. But for $20 not worth the hassle of returning it.

Just what I was looking for
Great little product from an American Company. Easy to install, and took a few days of trial and error to get the sensitivity set right, but got it to respond exactly the way I wanted it to. I don't have an expensive car - 13 year old Honda CRV in pretty good shape - but when some nuts decided to cut out my catalytic converter it came time to upgrade from The Club to a little bit more security. This Bulldog alarm did the trick.U P D A T E: One year later and it still works great.U P D A T E 2: After two years it still operates at the motion settings I originally set, {only the big street-sweeper or largest trash-truck set it off, telling me it's working and on the job}. No problem with anyone trying to break in since I installed it. Gettin' my money's worth here.U P D A T E F I N A L: 6 years and still goin' strong. Working as well as ever, loud and clear !
