The existing U-bolt is steel & was rusting after years exposed to the elements. As my review title says, this U-bolt is too narrow at 1-1/8". I needed a 1-1/4" U-bolt, the standard antenna mast size. This is stainless steel, so there's no problems with resizing it on a piece of 1-1/4" pipe. No need to worry about any scrapes or nicks rusting on stainless steel. The resizing was very easy to do on an old piece of pipe. I Hammered the U-bolt onto the pipe, then use a vise to finalize the shape.
