Meter will tell you if you're in the sun or if your soil is wet, but you can pretty much figure that out on you own. The pH feature is what I wanted and on receipt I tested in various soils.Tomato plants I knew to have acidic soil, various potted plants, sawdust, lime, peat moss......all read 7 on the pH meter (neutral). I finally put the meter in a wet cat litter box and got a reading of 6 which was way too high for that material.This is pretty much a worthless gadget. Unless you are willing to spend +$140 for a real pH meter, take a soil sample to your county agricultural agency for a report.....most locals have this as a free service.

I use this to test the soil of my plants in pots and garden and also to check the PH and moisture level of my worm composting bin. It's very helpful in determining when to water, PH of soil (and whether your plants will enjoy it or if you need to amend it) I use ot in my vermicompost bin (worm composting) to tell if they need more moisture added to make them happy, if my PH is good for them (it fluctuates based on the scraps I add) and the temperature of their bin in case it gets to warm in there for them I can cool it off. Overall great little tool for keeping everything kn balance.

Right out of the box, the probe was shaky, followed instructions and gently inserted to about an inch deep. Felt a snap and the tip came off in the soil. My soil is NOT hard. The design is poor.

It says 7 no matter where u put it. This doesn’t appear to be broke, it appears to be Chinese digital junk.

Not sure of accuracy. Seems to test the same even with known change in water/soil

Price isn't cheap but it's very simple an simple is great
