Don't drop 20 dollars on the competitor!
Great quality and extremely soft. I use these as tampons because I refuse to pay $20 for the sea pearls here on Amazon. Sea sponges are sea sponges. The ones sold by other brands are no different than these. The seller included a nice note detailing where the sponge came from (Med. Sea), some lavender bath salts, and a bottle of clear liquid, but idk what it is.Anyway. I cut mine in half, giving me two tampons. I then took some cotton thread (don't use anything but cotton if you're putting these in your body) and sewed it through, then cut it off the needle and tied the ends. This gives you a retrieval string. You can leave these in as long as you like. I have a pretty heavy cycle and I can wear one of these for like 10 hours without a problem. Leaving a cotton tampon in that long would be unsafe. Store-bought tampons don't allow oxygen to get up there, which is not good. With a sea sponge, you get plenty of oxygen up there, AND NO CRAMPS!!! I mean it, ladies. I usually have terrible cramps that cause me to stay in bed all day if I use traditional tampons. Not with these.Cleanup: Periodically throughout the day, I remove the sponge, rinse it under the tap, squeeze it out, and put it back in. Once a day, get a little dish and throw in some tea tree oil or hydrogen peroxide, add some water, and let your sponge soak in it a few minutes. Then rinse. TTO and HP are safe to put inside you, so you don't have to rinse too much. They are actually beneficial. Then just put the sponge back in. When your period is over, wash them with some baking soda, TTO, HP or apple cider vinegar and hot water. If you wanna be extra safe, boil them for a few minutes, but this decreases their quality, so you'll want to buy new ones in a month or two.Even if you buy a new one every other month and split it into two (that's about 7 bucks for 2 months worth of period products), you're spending less than you would on tampons. Not to mention these are natural and produce less waste than cotton products being sent down to our oceans. I love these sponges. They are extremely soft and make me forget I'm on my period.

Alternative feminine product
Ok i know that these are not advertised for what im using them for but if anyone else is considering here are the differences i've found in these and the notable brand that promotes the use of their sponges as alternative internal feminine product.Initial impression is that this product seems denser then the j&pI have found that this product is noticeable scratchy when the other is not at alland i feel they are not holding for as long as the other...it could just be my body being different....but on my heaviest day the j&p would last around 6 hours while active and these are at about 3.So can they be used - i'd say YESAre they worth it? - Hmmm..... im still debating whether the low price(in comparision) is worth the differences between these and the j&p

Softness not up to par.
I use this product for twice daily facial cleansing, and I found the softness of the "silk" sponge more coarse than the sponges that I have used in the past. THe exfoliating characteristics appear to be somewhat greater, and thus, have had to limit use of the sponge to once a day, rather than twice a day.

PURCHASE CAUTIOUSLY IF LOOKING FOR BIG SPONGES
Put this product in my cart at under $4 per sponge, price was changed after. My fault for not noticing it had changed, but there were a bunch of other items in my cart & I didn't spot it until too late. The sponges I received were tiny. I contacted them for authorization to return, which they gave. Delivery confirmation says they received them back Dec 10th, and here on the 26th they still have not credited my account for the return. If you need a tiny little craft sponge, you might be able to use these things, but if you want a sponge you can use to shower with, go to Target. UPDATE: 12 days after they (Big Deal Beauty) acknowledged receipt, I sent another email. Finally received refund in full. Emails very cryptic and with no explanation or apology, but I did receive the refund.

Seems coarser than other silk sponges I have used
I use these for applying makeup. I should have ordered a smaller size. These are so big I had to cut them in half. Even when wet they are a little bit harsh for my sensitive skin.

Too small
Ordered sponges in different sizes from 2 different sellers, these definitely weren't the size stated. Very small sponges, not 3.5 to 4 inches, more like 1.5 to 3 inches.

It’s quite small.
It was stiffer than I anticipated.

small
I ordered a 3 to 4 inch sponge. I got a 2 inch. Seriously??? Not happy that the description is incorrect or was sent incorrect product.
