A Must-Have for Serious Turkey Hunters!
Pros: Realistic Calls: Produces an incredibly authentic turkey sound. Durability: Built with quality materials that withstand the elements. Lightweight & Portable: Easy to carry around during long hunts. Versatile: Suitable for various calling techniques, including soft purrs and loud yelps. Cons: Learning Curve: May take some practice to master the technique. Maintenance Required: Needs regular maintenance to keep the slate surface in top condition. Limited Color Options: While the multicolored design is appealing, some might prefer a more subdued look. Detailed Comparison When compared to other slate calls on the market, such as the Woodhaven Cherry Crystal Call and the Primos Limb Hanger, the Ol' Betsy stands out in terms of sound quality and price. While the Woodhaven call offers a slightly richer tone, it comes at a higher price point. The Limb Hanger is less expensive but doesn’t provide the same level of versatility in sounds as Ol' Betsy. Ease of Use The Ol' Betsy Slate Call is relatively easy to use once you get the hang of it. Beginners might find the initial learning curve a bit daunting, particularly in mastering the right pressure and angle of the striker. However, with practice, it becomes second nature. Performance In terms of performance, the Ol' Betsy shines in the field. It effectively mimics the sounds of real turkeys, drawing them in with its soft clucks and yelps. Many users report increased success during hunting trips since switching to this call. Features Slate Surface: The quality slate surface allows for a wide range of turkey sounds. Striker Included: Comes with a striker that complements the slate surface incredibly well. Compact Design: Easily fits in your pocket or hunting pack. Quality The build quality of the Ol' Betsy is commendable. The materials used are sturdy, ensuring that it can handle rough conditions. The slate does require some upkeep, but this is a small price to pay for a reliable hunting tool. Value for Money At its price point, the Ol' Betsy offers immense value. It outperforms many higher-priced alternatives and provides users with realistic and effective calls, making it a worthwhile investment. Experience Using the Product Using the Ol' Betsy Slate Call has greatly enhanced my hunting experience. The flexibility in sound production allows me to adapt my calling strategy depending on the terrain and the behavior of the turkeys. I’ve successfully attracted and harvested more turkeys since incorporating this call into my gear. Recommendation I highly recommend the Primos Hunting Ol' Betsy Slate Call for both novice and experienced hunters. It’s an excellent tool that can boost your success in the field with its realistic sound reproduction and ease of use. Conclusion The Primos Hunting Ol' Betsy Slate Call is a fantastic addition to any turkey hunter’s kit. Its authentic sounds, durability, and great value for money make it a staple for those serious about the sport. With a little practice, you’ll find yourself reaping the benefits of this versatile slate call. Whether you’re just starting or are a seasoned pro, Ol' Betsy is sure to enhance your hunting experience.

Sounds like the real deal!
I have several calls from different brands, including Primos, but this call is amazing! I had heard of it from Primos classic Truth 14 and 15 turkey DVDs, which I figured that they had discontinued it, until I discovered they brought it back 2 years ago. I recently tested it out and really like how it sounds. I can't wait to use it when the season opens up!

Sounds Realistic
Just received the call and the sounds are very realistic. This is going to be awesome in the field. Only have it a 4 out of 5 because the lip of the housing is damaged. But it does stop the sound. A little rough on the hand though.

Sounds Like A Turkey and Easy To Use
I’ve used other peoples pot calls before buying this one. This is the first pot call I’ve bought for myself. I’m happy with the results I’m getting, clucks, purrs and yelps are all pretty easy to coax from it. My wife who has never used a call before was getting some decent sounds out of it after only a couple minutes practicing. The pot is molded plastic and not carved wood but the call utilizes a nice piece of slate for the sound board. The call is perfect for a beginner and is well tuned. For the price it’s a good bargain. I would buy it again.

Called Toms in when other calls didn’t!
Ok, I’m a total beginner and as such I didn’t want to spend long money on a more exotic call. Ol Betsy was a good compromise and I was intending that my hunting buddy who was much more experienced at calling would do most of the calling. He had a few high zoot slate and glass and box calls and has had a lot of success with them. We went for a 3 day semi-guided hunt in east Kansas, and we’re having no luck, when I asked if I could practice a few calls. First few calls on ol Betsy and a gobbler answers! Then he answers every darn call I make for 10 or 20 minutes! He ends up 30 feet behind us in the woods and eventually we spook him trying to get a shot (note to turkey hunters everywhere- bring a fan if you’re going to poke your head up over a little berm ). That afternoon, same thing, but ol Betsy had him on the hook for a good 20 minutes. Call- gobble, call- gobble. Again he got behind us while I fumbled with the gun because my buddy, bless his heart, had a shot but was letting me have it instead. One problem with slate calls is that you only have two hands and I couldn’t get the gun up before the Tom strutted past the decoy and went behind us. Eventually he got bored and took another strut in front of us on his way out, and that was it. I don’t know if it was just those particular birds, or if my inexpert calling was somehow appealing to east Kansas spring turkeys, or if ol Betsy has an extra harmonic or something, but she really worked on that hunt. I wouldn’t sell her for 10 times what I paid and that’s the truth!

Easy to Use, Solid for the Price, Perfect for a Beginner
It took me a few minutes, maybe 2, to figure out how to use this slate call. I took it to the field this past Monday for opening turkey and was able to call in an old Tom from over 200yds out. It's loud enough to get across those turkey fields, and in my case the birds were able to hear it over some heavy machinery running in the gravel pit I hunt beside. I recommend for any turkey hunter, new and experienced. It's good as a backup or your main call.

Sounds great and you can't beat the price.
I picked this up to add to my call arsenal for this years fall turkey season. After an hour or two of watching videos online and practicing with the call I like to think I have the basics of it down. It's super easy to get your basic calls down on and with such a low price it's a no brainer if you don't already have a pot call. I haven't yet used it to call them in but I can tell you the calls I've been able to make it produce after practice sound spot on to the hens I've brought in with other calls.

Works fine
Pretty good slate for beginner Turkey hunters,I can't speak for veteran hunters as this is my first time hunting Turkey, once you get used to the slate it seems ok called in a nice tom with it,but striker wears out fast and gets lop sided quickly with is frustrating especially when a tom is standing yards away from you and your struggling with your slate

Easy To Use!
I already had a box call, but this is the first pot call I’ve used. I like it better than the box call. I have better control and it’s sounds better to me when I listen to real turkey calls to practice. It didn’t take me long to get is sounding realistic. Now I just have to try it in the field.

Seems like a very good pot call.
I haven't been able to try this one out in the field yet due to the bad weather conditions we have had. However, I have been able to compare it with the Primos Purple Haze glass call, and I think that this one gives you the ability to vary your calls much more easily. Won't be able to do anything until next spring in terms of actually calling a long beard in, so I can't give it a 5 star rating at this time, but it does appear to be a promising call from what I can tell so far.
