GAMPRO 12V 150dB Air Horn Kit, 18Inch Chrome Zinc Single Trumpet Truck Horn with Compressor for Car Truck SUV Boat RV(Silver)

I have a 1997 Ford F-250 7.3l powerstroke. The truck is great and it only has 160k miles. Unfortunately, the original owner had an engine fire from the right side battery. A lot of parts were destroyed, original horn included. I bought it from the second owner who replaced all the melted parts and wiring harnesses, but he never did the horn. The trucks also been t-boned but that's a whole other story. Anyway, I needed a horn. Considering the turbo diesel 7.3l engine is so loud, I wanted something louder than a typical car horn. If I need to be heard, I don't want the horn to be drowned out by the loud engine. I heard good things about this GAMPRO air horn, so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, the retail box that they package the horn in is very low quality and was completely destroyed when I got it. Luckily only the trumpet part of the horn was dented and scratched, and mine won't be installed where anyone can see it. Everything else was still in the package and in good condition. The horn was really easy to install. I followed the Amazon listing wiring diagram. Don't try to follow the wiring diagrams included in the box. The Amazon ones are correct and much easier to understand. All the wiring goes through the relay and it works great with my original horn button on the steering wheel. The trucks has two batteries. I wired the horn on the right (passenger) side battery since that's where the original horn wiring is. There's an inline fuse close to the battery end of the wire. On vehicles with the battery on the opposite side of the original horn or in the rear of the engine bay, you might need a longer and thicker gauge 12v constant wire. I've used the horn dozens of times since I got it. I've used it in short rapid burst, a second or two, and even longer like 5-10 seconds. The horn seems to be consistently working well and very strong. I just have it zip tied in place, along with the compressor. I don't have a way to really test it, but it sounds and feels much louder than a standard horn. I can feel it vibrate when it's being used. It's facing down and behind the headlight, and it's still super loud. I bet it would be louder if it was mounted on top facing the front. Overall, I'm very happy with the air horn. It was easy to install and much louder than a stock horn. I've read some reviews that say the compressor is likely to fail every few years. I wouldn't mind having to buy a new one if I had to, as they're very fairly priced and you don't have to rewire the whole thing. I would definitely recommend this air horn to anyone looker for something lower and louder than their stock horn.

Perfect. Easy install and obnoxiously LOUD!! Just what I wanted.

I got this awesome old F-150 a month or so ago and I immediately noticed that the horn sounds like a clown car. I wanted something bigger and better and this air horn answered the call. It is a great sounding horn! Pros: -Epic honk Cons: -can be tricky to install (finding a place for the horn and the compressor and mounting them) -doesn’t come with separate switch or instructions to wire it via separate switch -the provided wiring is too short, IMO -the air tube is really short, only about a foot long. It really should come with 6-8 feet to accommodate more flexible installation options. -it might be illegally loud? Be careful. Don’t be obnoxious. Keep your stock horn as your primary. Install tips: I wired mine to a separate switch instead of to the OEM horn. That allows me to preserve the stock horn and wiring and to use the OEM horn when it’s more appropriate. But it required purchasing a separate switch and more complex wiring (thanks to ChatGPT for helping me figure it out). The wiring seemed really short. The hot wire is a couple of feet long but the negative wire is only about 6 inches. No idea how you’re supposed to make that work with just that, unless you mount the compressor right in top of the battery. You’ll probably want some extra wire, butt connectors, spare connectors, and T-taps on hand before you get started. I mounted the horn itself to a skid plate just under the radiator area. This horn is big (a foot or so long) and that was about the only place I could think to mount it internally. I installed the compressor using an L-shaped bracket I had laying around. I couldn’t find any large, flat panels that I could bolt it through. I purchased additional tubing at Lowes so I could extend the reach. I probably used 6 or so feet of tubing and it still sounds great. If you’re handy and can figure out the mounting and the wiring, then go for it! You won’t regret upgrading the confident, masculine sound of an air horn!

After reading all of the reviews and looking at much more expensive products, I decided to give this product a try with the full understanding that it was most likely a slight gamble and was going to be somewhat cheap. The horn itself is silver coated and i'm not at all convinced its some kind of metal. The installation is straight forward if you have some knowledge of wiring. The harness is entirely too short if you are wanting to mount this under the hood so be prepared to either purchase a separate kit with a relay and switch or lengthen these wires. I had an LED light wiring kit with a harness in the garage so used it. As for the one that came with it, It looks like a cheap harness but all things can be made to work for what you are using it for. As this may not last a long time, I temporarily mounted it in the grill under the cross member support of my Ram 1500 and used the OEM horm mounts as a brace for some nylon ties to secure it. I would not recommend drilling holes and mounting as this may not last forever. The horn is easily twice as loud as the OEM dual horns on a Ram. It is a single horn so it doesn't have that deep scare the crap out of you tractor trailer horn sound but it will definitely get someone's attention and is loud. I am very impressed and use it as a separate horn for fun or just to jack with people and not as a replacement horn. Also, I wired this up to a small momentary horn I could place in the cab of my truck and not have some obnoxious hole in the dash or trim. Overall, this is a decent horn for the money so long as you are not expecting Cadillac material on a Ford budget. I say give it a try and enjoy it for what it is and don't be a cheapa$$ and complain when it ultimately disappoints you. So far I don't see that happening anytime soon!

Update: figured I'd update my review to note the compressor finally died after 2 1/2 years. All other components still working I just ordered another one of the same brand and switched out the compressor now everything works again. Mine did get used a lot because it's tied to my alarm system and gives a quick honk or double honk while unlocking. Perhaps all those repeated bursts shortened the life a bit. I added a photo to also note how the new compressor from the silver version of the horn came without any plastic housing on the top like the old one which I prefer it to have housing, seems less protected and the new one already had a little ding on the top right out of the box but it might not matter much once it's installed and mounted to be honest. Original review: Alright I posted this video to help those who have the same questions I did. Almost a year later and the horn still working great because I did a proper install and secured things well with quality parts and connectors. here's the most critical info that took me the longest time to figure out: White- Goes to ground, MAKE SURE YOU'RE PROPERLY GROUNDED that is where I messed up initially Blue - goes to your original horn Black - Also goes to ground Red - Follow the item description, it goes to the power source I was stuck and didn't know what was wrong and my problem was the grounding source I used wasn't proper, the paint and bolt I think preventing it from grounding. Secondly, you'll need: - some extra 16 or 18awg wire to extend to reach to your original horn or ground point depending on your car and location you install it. - Waterproof heatshrink butt connectors and male/female heat shrink connectors - Lastly, you'll probably need extra tubing. Take the vinyl tubing it comes with to a hardware store like lowes or home depot and make sure you get the right size diameter. Finally the video actually shows HOW IT SOUNDS, which no other reviews could show. And the seller doesn't have a simple audio clip for you to hear. In short it's nice and loud definitely what I hoped for.

It barely works even after a replacement. The diaphragm is low quality or comes unlubricated. Frequently makes a voice Crack like 60 percent of the time. It only begins to get less infrequent as the horn "breaks in." It takes a while, but when it works it sounds great. Will report as things change.

I thought 1 might not be loud enough so I got 2... boy was I wrong. These things are super freaking loud holy crap. Seem to be well made and should last. One thing to note, though not really a bad thing. The compressors say 16A on them, they're fused @ 30A, the relay is rated for 80A but when I tested 1 horn it only pulled 0.3A. My guess is they print the amp rating higher so people think they're more powerful. I ended up wiring both horns to 1 relay fused @ 10A. If I run into any issues with this I'll update my listing. I'll also update if the horns take a crap. To get the air line thru the roof I used 3/4 gas fittings. flange, 3" nipple, Tee, Street 90 & a plug. If you do this make sure to use 3/4 so you have enough room to bend the air line 180 degrees. I used a tee instead if a 90 so I could stick something thru to help bend the air line through. I also had to buy some air line and a tee to join the horns together and found 5/8" fits best I stuffed duct seal into the opening the hose is coming out of to feed the horns so that no water wicked it's way back into my Sprinter. It's not shown in the picture but I used Henry 209XR rubber roofing cement to waterproof all the penetrations. Whatever you use make sure it's got some kind of UV inhibitor.

So I just installed this horn in my 2010 Ford F-150. The stock horn sounded whimpy and I think a truck horn should have some gusto, no? I’ve used a few different types of these air horns in the past and what impressed me right off the hop was the fact that the horn is metal. It’s not some flimsy tin can metal either, it feels pretty substantial. Second, the compressor has some heft (weight) to it. The compressor’s of the horns I used in the past felt lighter and really just looked a bit cheapy. That being said, I’ve only had it installed for a week and they usually tend to go to shite by the end of winter/early spring so we’ll see how it holds up in the coming months. Thirdly, is it loud? Yeah, she puts out some decibels. I was actually quite surprised at how loud it actually was. Usually the company will boast that it’s but then you get it installed and you end up yelling out your window instead of using your horn because it gets it gets your point across better. With this horn, not the case. I honked at a car earlier today at an intersection and everyone on standing each corner jumped. It gets the attention it’s intended to. It’s not an air tank/compressor horn loud, but loud enough 😉. Install was easy enough once I figured out the spaghetti bowl of wires (I am not technically inclined in these matters) but there are plenty of videos on YouTube if you get stuck. If I had only one comment to make it would be that the kit should include a ring clamp or something to make sure the air line doesn’t come unattached at either the horn or the compressor. At the very least a pair of zip-ties. But I digress, if that’s the only thing I can complain about then that’s pretty all right. All-in-all, GREAT quality, GREAT price point, EASY install & LOUD. If you’re thinking about it, stop thinking and buy it.

Bluddy loud like an air horn should be. Not a deep loud like a trombone more a trumpet.
