It comes with eight mounting hooks to connect to the front of an existing standing unit to form a corner shelving unit, or it can connect directly to the upright posts to extend a standing unit linearly.The polypropylene shelves are made of food quality materials, smooth surfaces, with no lumps or nooks so no food matter can get trapped. The shelves can be removed from the frame and machine washed at up to 194 degrees F/ 90 degrees C. They hang over the top part of the horizontal shelf bar, providing a labeling tab, which is writeable with a dry erase marker (included), to help manage food stocks. The problem with this extension (and I bought three sets) was that the plastic shelf pieces were not long enough to cover the entire length, so there are gaps between the plastic shelf pieces that stuff could fall thought.
