If you have resistant gray...
...you can leave this on longer so it will cover gray better. This is less damaging than permanent color. I use the dark ash blond for my light brown and blond and grey hair. I like the gentler smell of this color. I am sensitive to scents and this is very tolerable. It will appear a bit dark at first, but to get better coverage I have to leave on for 45 minutes. If you don't want that, go with permanent color like perfect 10. Their dark blond is warmer, but I like that formula and can tolerate the scent. I recommend natural instincts if you have never colored your hair before. Go a shade lighter or a shade very close to your hair color and follow the directions. If this works for you, great. But to cover my very white gray I have to leave it on longer. The color is very good for me. Do not be afraid to try it. Don't go too dark, err on the side of being too light, you can go darker next time if you wish. The color is very natural and so pretty. Limit the use of heat tools for longer lasting color. Shampoo less often if you can. Otherwise plan to use often to cover those roots. You do not want yellow or orange roots. A color is too warm if this happens. And we all know what white roots look like! With a hair color like this, you can get that youthful hair color back. I only use only at front hairline and the crown of my head to blend in with previously colored hair. I use a wide-toothed comb to ensure color is getting down to the root. Use as much as you and, don't skimp where you are applying it to saturate each strand. I also make sure my hair is free of hairspray, mousse, gel, etc. for best results. You don't have to, but it is best. Please do not stop making this. I also have sensitive skin and make sure to rinse it well. Do not color when you are in a hurry. I also use a microfiber towel on my hair. Save your best white towels for your body or your guests. I cannot emphasize how easy it is to use this color. When you color your hair regularly, you will get very good at it. Wipe up spilled hair color immediately. Don't get it on clothing, walls, bath rugs, etc. I sit in bathroom and play games on my phone to pass the time. I have no stress about it, it is just part of my routine. Good luck.

Covered my greys!
Im very happy with this hair color. Im about 65% grey & it covered them! Plus, my hair felt softer after coloring with this product than anything I’ve used before. I used 7A. Initially it came out a light/medium brown. A little darker than planned, but I know it will fade over time. I also left it on 40 minutes b/c I have resistant greys. Will definately buy it again!

Easy to use, with subtle long-lasting color.
I love this product because it's quick and easy to use and leaves my hair shiny. I'm grey in front and the rest of my hair is mousy brown. The color is subtle and lasts several weeks, and the conditioner included in the box adds even more shine. On top of the dye I add some highlights in front so that the overall effect is that I feel that I look younger.

The color feels closer to brown than dark blond.
I really like this semi permanent, non-damaging hair color but I feel like the color description is a little off. I thought it would just tone my hair to a cooler blonde but it feels really closer to Brown and a medium brown at that . Next time I’m going to order a lighter shade of blonde. I do like that this covers up your roots in a really natural way, especially if you have gray sprinkled roots. The good part about it being Demi permanent is usually in about 4 to 6 weeks it should return to your natural color, So if you don’t like it you can always try again.

Nice color but my roots show my true color after 2-3 shampoos around face.
Bought this product due to trying to transition from permanent to demi coloring (to eventually not color at all after complete grow out). I like the color of this product, but it definitely does not last the number of shampoos it states it should. Your natural color will show at roots in front around face after 2-3 shampoos. I will buy again and just endure the gray around my face at roots. Love that it is ammonia free and damages hair much less than permanent coloring.

Beware very red/gold 7A Dark cool blonde
Back before the change when the product was 10 minutes instead of 20, 7A Dark Cool Blonde was always my go to product. I’d apply it when my highlights were growing out and I didn’t want to spend the money for more highlights. I’d apply 7A all over to get back to my natural dark blonde color which allowed me a few more weeks before a salon visit. The 7A color washed out beautifully over a month or so, nourished my hair and honestly my hair color with it was so gorgeous bc my existing highlights still popped but there was no root growth showing bc 7A darkened my hair just enough. I had a few boxes of the 10 minute formula and life was good. Fast forward to last week when I used the same color 7A as always and I got this horrible brassy super dark gold mess. Sooo disappointed and shocked. I tripled checked the box to make sure I hadn’t used a golden brown or a red color by mistake instead of 7A Dark cool blonde. The first photo is what it always did to my hair. The middle bright reddish is right after using the color. The last photo is after several shampoos with both clarifying & dandruff shampoos and purple conditioner mask to try and remove some of the dark color & tone the gold brassy red out. This is so disappointing. I will be scared to use the 7A product again and honestly afraid to try any of the Demi(?) permanent Natural instincts colors. I’d love feedback from Clairol about why this happened and what suggestions they can offer me. Fortunately it’s not permanent but I’m not looking forward to how this brassy gold color will fade. Very very disappointed.

Soft, natural results, but n Quite the Cool Blonde I Expected
I tried this hoping for a subtle, natural-looking blonde refresh, and it was… okay. The color came out a bit darker than I expected and leaned more neutral than “cool,” so it didn’t fully cancel out the warmth in my hair. It did leave my hair feeling soft and not overly damaged, which I appreciated, and the smell wasn’t too harsh compared to other dyes. Overall, it’s decent for a gentle, low-commitment color, but if you’re really aiming for a true cool-toned blonde, this might not quite get you there.

Great if you know what you're asking for - 7A Dark Cool Blonde
Love this dye. Heads up though as I know the "blonde" descriptor in 7A Dark Cool Blonde has the potential to lead to some heartache for those who don't know that a level 7 dye, and especially a 7 ash, is going to come out VERY dark. Hair is generally blonde (yellow) in the level 8/9/10 range. 7 is a dark, dark blonde/light brown and then ash tones make it appear even darker than a more golden/neutral dye would, so this will make your hair an ashy greyish brown for the first several washes. Don't panic! Go lighter if you want a true blonde (and your hair has been lightened to a level 8-10 first)

Pretty good
It did cover my greys but did not show up as cool or dark blonde, but rather closer to my darker, natural colour On the plus side, it left my hair healthy and shiny. Smell is not too bad either

7A Dark Cool Blonde
It’s a shame to leave such an unfortunate review because I love this hair dye! I have used this very same semi/demi permanent colour in that past and it has looked great! I love the way it sits on my natural hair, and I typically opt for a slightly darker brown. I have naturally Dark Blonde / Light Brown hair, and my most recent dye was done with Colour 6A Light Cool Brown and it looked amazing! It was cool, it wasn’t brassy, and it darkened my hair without leaving harsh grow-out lines on my roots. The colour I tried today was 7A Dark Cool Blonde, and like the name suggests, I thought it would be a lighter version of 6A Light Cool Brown. Nope! It is honestly light brown and not dark blonde, and the colour has an auburn-y undertone that I’m hoping will fade away. It’s certainly NOTHING like the colour that’s advertised on the box. I’m sure green and blue shampoos will do the trick, but I will generally state that I DO NOT RECOMMEND this specific shade. By all means, please try the dye in another colour. I have seen the Brunette and Black hair colours have beautiful results on myself, friends, and family. The best and only other blonde shade I have tried in the past was 9 Sahara Light Blonde, and it toned my grown out balayage at the time in the best way possible!
