Rock and Gem...the best! 40 years and still going strong!
It is hard to believe but I bought my first "Rock and Gem" magazines when I was a kid in New Jersey. Garden State News on Central Ave, Jersey City, NJ. Recently I received a magazine in the mail from my subscription and it said 40 years old! Wow! Is that how long it has been? I was like 9 years old when I bought my first Rock and Gem magazines! I am 50 now...man where did the time go?! Anyway this magazine is still superb and even better now because the quality of the photography has improved over the years. Yes it is true the advertisements tend to be the same a lot but that is how they can afford to keep going. I hope they keep going as it is nice to be able to get a magazine that has good and interesting news and articles and makes you feel good! It keeps you interested in your hobby that you have loved for so many years. Or maybe get someone else interested in it for the first time! Great magazine!

If you love gems and rocks, this is for you!
A friend suggested Rock&Gem Magazine, and I just received my first issue and I am so happy! Just soaked up every page. Like this so much that I ordered two back issues! A great read for gem and rock hounds!

Rock Me, Baby!
I am like a kid at Christmas when my "Rock & Gem" mag comes in the mail. I read it cover to cover, and find the content absolutely fascinating!! The magazine covers every aspect of rock hounding, working with crytals/gems/minerals. There are always several minerals I have never heard of before, and this magazine does a wonderful job of educating its readers. And I LOVE the fact that there is a kids' section! I fell in love with rocks when my Dad came home from a trip to the Badlands of S.D. with several minerals, and a big amethyst crystal. If we take the time to provide opportunities like that to our children, it can open up an entirely new world....a fascinating one to them.Thank you so much!

Meeeeeeeh
I’m a lapidary artist. For my purposes this magazine has very little useful information. Some articles are really poorly written and read like unedited rambling notes to self. I think this magazine is better suited for people who are interested in specimens and rocks in general and not people who cut cabochons. Photos in the magazine are hit or miss: the cover is generally beautiful but the inside photos leave to be desired. Lots and lots of the same ads over and over again. The one consistently useful section is the list of gem shows by month at the end of the magazine.
