Perfect motor for inflatable kayak
The Watersnake ASP24 trollling motor has been a perfect lightweight addition to my inflatable fishing kayak set-up. I like being able to choose between slow and fast speeds... and between forward and reverse... quickly with the flip of the switch. The steering is easy and with a reverse option you don't have to turn the motor all the way around to change direction. This allows me to cast a fly line, briefly move the boat away in the correct direction to take out the slack or feed out more line, and then pause/stop the motor for retrieve. The results with stillwater trout fishing have been fantastic! The motor does not drag significantly if paused while paddling. The tilt mechanism works quickly and perfectly so the motor can be tilted out of the way easily when paddling for extended periods, in shallow water or when landing the boat. The unit comes cabled and ready to clip to a deep cycle marine battery and draws very little power... it ran intermittently 6 hours per day for 2 days without a re-charge on a 75aH battery. It is designed for use in both fresh and saltwater, so I look forward to taking it with me soon to the Oregon Coast for tidal estuary exploration and crabbing. Highly recommended!

Great kayak motor
Great motor of my kayak. Light weight.

Very light, good power, small.
First off highly recommend the bull nose rudder attachment for this especially if you plan on side mounting this on your Kayak like i did. First impressions, the power is good don't have a way to measure speed but definitely was faster than I could paddle at full strength. Perfect for small lakes. The 24" is on the small end and had to make a few adjustments to my mount so that it could probably be deep enough in the water, after that it was perfect but really was considering a 30". The best part about this though is the portability of it, it's extremely light, small so easy to throw anywhere in the car or the kayak when loading. Cons 24" rod a little too small but made it work though i have to reach low hold the trolling motor handle Could use battery meter especially for it's price point Handle is small, like maybe 4" also little flimsy Propeller seems very brittle and weak, replacement oem is even worse but hasn't broke yet

Decent motor. Good price.
This review is probably most applicable if you are using a canoe with this motor. Speeds: the slow trolling speed is a little fast for fishing in a 14.5 foot canoe. Feels like about twice as fast as is appropriate for fishing. However it works great for moving around a lake at a decent clip, even against the wind. High speed basically makes the canoe plane and is almost unnervingly fast. Shaft: The shaft length is not ideal for a standard canoe mount/distance from water. This creates a fairly shallow prop placement, at least in my canoe, and leads to quite a bit of noise. The prop kind of wallows around a bit if the canoe goes โtoo fastโ and that action creates the unwanted prop/water noise. The amperage estimates seem correctโ Iโm using a 35 ah battery and it will run for several hours of continuous use. Prop is a little cheapโmade from some kind of rigid plastic. The claim that it reduces weed issues seems accurate as Iโve had few issues in two relatively weedy lakes. Overall, Iโve only used the motor twice but Iโm generally a fan... especially for the price. Canโt speak to wear and tear / longevity.

Decent trolling motor for the price
This watersnake is a decent trolling motor for the money. I purchased it for my lost creek angler and Iโve been happy with it. I had to make modifications for it to properly fit down where my peddle drive goes but it pushes my kayak at a good speed. You just have to remember this is no top of the line trolling motor and lower your expectations with it. For my kayak on the high setting it will push me at 3.0 mph on the low setting 2.0 mph. Yes I can peddle faster then that but the benefit is I wonโt tire my self out getting to my spot to fish

7 months use
I purchased the 24T Sept 23', by April 24' this motor is shot. I have a FeelFree Lure and had it mounted in the center pod hole. Worked fine for the 7 months until it didn't. I was a good distance from the launch in about 8 foot of water, running against current and with wind at by back. I noticed it making sounds I hadn't heard before. Then nothing, forward was completely gone. Reverse still worked so I tried turning the motor around and making my way back to the launch area. That worked for about 50 yards then I had no forward and no reverse. Got home and took it apart to find the red (hot wire) had melted at the battery and in the head the negative and pos connectors were blackened. In 7 months I probably had it out 25 times. Heartbroken it died, but there are better options out there at the price point.

Good product. I'm pleased with its performance.
I use this to access my yacht's mooring from the shore. It drives my 2.6m lightweight inflatable dinghy well with 2 folk and plenty of luggage on board. It's light and easy to operate. If it catches weed it doesn't have sufficient power to clear itself. It wouldn't be adequate with that dinghy into a chop or a strong wind but you can always row as well. I am generally impressed with its performance and it is very easy to transport and put on and take off the dinghy while in the water. I have only used it for this season so can't comment on how long it will last. I'm very pleased with it though. 21/9/25 Now used it regularly for 4 seasons in salt water. It has been completely reliable and ideal for my purposes as it's so light and sips electricity. I didn't think it would last this long.

great item good price
this motor is great i use it on an 8ft GRP boat on the Canal it pumps us along at 3mph all day long on speed 2 .. its pulling 15 amps so just remember to work out how much run time you want then buy a marine deep cycle battery my 115 amp hr AGM battery gives us 6hrs + run time remember you have to leave 20% in acid batteries... or you kill the battery basically so that gives us 92 amp hrs รท 15 amps pull of motor = 6 hrs run time ... great motor my advice carry a spare prop they cost approx 10 bucks .. ours was basically shot after 18 hrs running ...
