Simple to Use
This converter is simple in design and easy to use. I have successfully used it to connect an old GameCube system to an HD monitor. This device will also work with the original Xbox, Sega Dreamcast, old VCR players, and anything else that uses RCA cables. This device has two options: 720p and 1080p. When I used the GameCube with my HD monitor, I noticed there was a slight but annoying lag when I had the option set to 1080p. This is probably due to the combination of two factors: 1080p is a higher resolution than 720p, which may make the device take slightly more time to process, and I was using it on a HD monitor, not an HD television. However, when I set the option to 720p, everything worked fine. The lag does not matter at all, however, when connecting to a device that does not require constant input, such as an old VCR player. The device is powered by a micro USB cable, which is provided with the package. To power the device, simply plug the micro USB end into the device, and the other end into a USB port or wall adapter. Before purchasing, you should know that this device does not improve the quality of the video or audio, it only converts the format from analog to digital to allow you to use it on newer machines. The picture and quality should look exactly the same as it did on older TVs.Overall, I would recommend this device to anyone who is looking for an easy way to use older game systems on newer displays.

I use it to connect my American (NTSC) Super Nintendo to my new Sharp 42 inch HD TV ...
I understand the product is called Mini but the way it's written made me think it was was a AV to Mini HDMI converter not an AV to HDMI and I almost cancelled my order due to this! Besides the confusing labeling in the description however I have no problem with this product. I use it to connect my American (NTSC) Super Nintendo to my new Sharp 42 inch HD TV and it worked like a charm. Because of the screen size it did look a bit stretched out and unfortunately my tv does not have an aspect ratio setting but that is not the fault of this device. Even though the pixels were a bit stretched, my snes never looked better. I noticed more textures and better pixel clarity than i have ever seen from my retro console. I also lowered the sharpness settings on my tv to help out with the stretched image. Had i had a smaller tv screen or more display options, i'm sure the picture quality would be amazing! There was zero input lag, however when i turned on the "motion enhancement," settings i did get a bit of input lag so i turned this feature on my TV off. So far I have only used the Mini (AV to HDMI) in 1080p mode and not sure how video looks in 720p.

Works, but has some quality and usability issues to keep in mind
It does work for the most part. I'm using it to hook a DVD player to an old LCD monitor instead of buying a new TV. The color is good and the picture and sound quality are fine considering the low-res source. There are, however, a few issues to be aware of here:1.) Like others, I had issues getting the correct unit. I was twice sent the HDMI2AV version instead of the AV2HDMI version that I ordered - so check the unit before opening.2.) When I initially hooked it up, it didn't work. Through process of elimination, I was able to figure out that the included USB power cord was faulty. (Note: despite the instructions, this unit may require power in some applications, including mine). Luckily, I had a spare USB thanks to the incorrect unit mentioned above, and it worked with that. The USB connector appears to be identical to the PS3 USB charger cable, so you could possibly try that if you run into a similar issue.3.) Aspect ratio is an issue. My monitor is widescreen, but this unit seems to assume a 4:3 ratio. That means that when I play a widescreen DVD, it appears in a tiny rectangle in the middle of my screen, since my monitor doesn't offer any zoom controls.I would expect that if your TV or monitor offers zoom controls and/or you plan to use a 4:3 source (old movies or gaming systems), you should be fine. Just double check the lettering on the unit when you get it!

Would definitely reccommend. Works well, couple of thoughts though.....
Quick Opinion:-The product is worth it. It works well, is easy to use, and is small and portable. The only thing that really detracts from it is the one foot length of the micro USB to USB power cable. The product does output a 1080p signal, however never will you be able to achieve true 1080p from any product period but this product does an phenomenal job at clearing up the image and making it work on a HDMI device. At the price I bought it at ($20.60) it was well worth it. Especially now since its $16.16.More In Depth Review:I have been using the product so far for about two weeks. There are a few things I have noticed, as well as like a lot. I use it for my Wii to display on a 24'' Monitor with only HDMI ports on it.Pros:-Works like a charm-Simple to use-Does what it was designed to-Used for a Wii to plug into a computer monitor with only HDMI ports-Very compact and easy to take and go (if needed to)-Micro USB to USB power sourceThe best part about this product is it works and is unbelievably easy to use. You basically just match the colors for the AV side and plug in the HDMI cord into the other and then plug in the power and it works (just make sure you are on the right channel for the TV/Monitor/Display). I personally am using it for the Wii which has a USB port in the back of it which I use to power the device. The nice thing about a USB power cord is that you can hook it up to pretty much anywhere especially with most phone chargers coming with a USB power cord adapter standard with them.Cons:-Receives power anytime that the cable is plugged in-Cable is about a foot in lengthThe reason I listed that it receives power as long as it is plugged in is because it is such a small unit that I do not know if it will cause any damage or if it will burn out earlier. I have left it unplugged while not in use, however this may just me being to cautious. The casing also is a plastic and feels cheap-ish and somewhat study. The 720p-1080p slide pictured on the product also seems like it might be easy to break although I have not had any problems with it so far (2 weeks). The cable length is not much of an issue for me, however it could be for others.Final Comments:-I would recommend this product to anyone who needs an AV to HDMI converter-Cheap, easy to use, works fantastically, and simple-Only four stars because of cheap feeling casing and a short power cable
