After getting frustrated at not being able to find the perfect solution for a portable, easy to transport, lightweight yet powerful solar array, we set out to create our own. Nearly a year in design and testing - from the desert Southwest, to the '14ers' of the Colorado high country - we think we nailed it - one of the best portable solar panel products we've seen! Heck, we liked it so much that we formed Overland Tuff so we could bring the same products to you - the get up and go, live for the sun and the fun, outdoorsy folks who understand the need for reliable solar power on the go. We took no shortcuts in perfecting the ideal solar panel array for the outdoor living and travelling lifestyle. We make the Overland Tuff folding portable 150 Watt solar panel both for outdoor use under 'tuff' conditions as well as more leisurely travel. The folding design is easy to open or close. It's suitable for many environments, allowing you to enjoy clean, free solar energy for everything from charging your cell phone to powering the blender with your favorite batch of margaritas while enjoying the campfire. We use high performance, Grade A SunPower cells in our solar panels (other vendors must use Grade B cells). We sew these panels into durable polyester canvas. Each Overland Tuff panel array transforms 20.5%-22.5% or more of available solar power into usable energy. Many other supplier's panels are only 17%-20% efficient, despite more 'robust' claims. Overland Tuff applies a more expensive ETFE coating to each panel. This helps each panel withstand high temperatures while promoting solar efficiency. The ETFE coating is very permeable to UV rays (95%) vs. traditional PET coatings (80%) used on non-EFTE panels.
