Why companies don't provide locking attachments in conference rooms I'll never know
I put one of these in each conference room that I end up using frequently. Why the company does not buy "AV/Power inserts" with locking provisions I don't know. Perhaps it's just me that uses a CR for more than an hour?I used to use rope hasps and/or latch parts and security screws until I found these. It's nice and compact and fold flat - as flat as the A/V center modules at least (no hasp sticking up like when I'd ghetto them). The grey cover is modern enoughPeople complain about adhesion - And that varies. Certainly it won't stick well to the underside of a desk or table. It does stick pretty well to the top of a smooth top table. But a determined person can still work it off. But then consider - at some point the attachment to your laptop is more fragile than this tape. For ultimate I highly recommend using the included security screws. You'll need to bring in a drill (cordless or hand (ha!)) and a screwdriver. Two screws. Just stick it down with the tape - leaving room on the side for the cover (don't put it right up against the AV insert). Drill away, blow most of the sawdust out of the way, and run the screws in. Done. I put it along one of the ends and it looks like corporate installed it - and close enough to center for all.Which is another good thing - the rectangle is big enough for any - and lots - of lock ends to go through. So everybody can party and lock off of this one latch.Worried about getting caught? I pretty much don't. Pretty much anything "done with purpose" doesn't warrant more than a glance. And the one time somebody looked I said "I'm putting in a locking security latch" for which the response was "Thanks for taking care of that".So remember - the tape is "only OK" - which might actually be OK. It won't come off easily. But a determined person can get it off. The screws are solid and my recommendation.

Does the job: makes an anchor point
I bought two of these to attach to workspaces that do not have a convenience place to loop a security cable. The product is a metal plate that can be fastened to a surface (more on this below) with a swivel that you can pass a security lock through. The swivel also has a Kensington security slot if you happen to have a cable that has a fitting that goes into a security slot on both ends. The plate comes with a gray plastic cover with a big "Kensington" on it. If you move the swivel around, you hear the metal clanging around -- not a security issue, but more industrial and a bit unrefined. The metal plate attaches to a surface by adhesive tape and/or screws. The included screws are one-directional, meaning they can be screwed in, but the head design has a smooth surface (not a flat edge) so that a screwdriver cannot unscrew it.I attached the plate to a stud in the wall to be very secure. I found the included screws a bit short so for extra security, I recommend getting additional longer one-directional screws to go deeper into the wall stud.Bottom line is that it does the job. Could be better with longer screws and designed so that the swivel doesn't make any noise when moved around.

Not perfect, but it works well
I bought this product to keep my laptop locked to the table in my bedroom where I keep it. I couldn't use the screws because of the table material, so I just used the adhesive. It is good and strong. Yes, I could probably get it off if I really wanted to, but if someone took the time and energy to get the anchor off I would definitely notice it. The idea is to keep someone from just walking off with my laptop when my back is turned (or I'm in the bathroom). I'm not stupid enough to think that the lock would be able to stop a determined thief who had time to work on it. It is just right for me. I bought another one for my desk, which is much sturdier. I also keep my bedroom door locked when I'm gone (I put a deadbolt on it). There isn't anything else that would be worth the money for the little bit of extra protection it would give and I'm satisfied. If you want to keep people from taking your laptop in a public setting, you might not like this item. There aren't too many public settings where you would have authority to install it anyway. If you want to keep someone from casually walking off with your computer in a more private setting, this works well.

Great
Easy to set up and use, not too small. The cable fits through it. Adheres well to desk. A great deterrent.

Very Secure Mounts
Beware - this mount is super adhesive. Once attached, there is no way to remove it without damaging the surface it is glued to. I give it 5 stars because that's exactly what I was looking for. I used a few of these as anchors for iPad tethers at a public auto show and had no issues despite having hundreds of people use the iPads. When the show was over, we had to cut the cables and abandon the anchors.

Good solid connection point.
So I used the adhesive strip to stick the anchor to the side of the steel cabinet under my desktop. It has stuck well to this surface so far (a couple of months as of this writing). I briefly considered trying to stick it to the bottom of the desktop itself but had reservations about how long that bond might last. I haven't given it a good yank and have no plans of doing so, If you really need a secure connection, I suggest using the provided screws (or some nuts and bolts) to attach it with.
