I have 2 moustaches with a nest box and they have the whole length of the cage. Mine do come out for exercise. **Q: What is the size of each pull out tray? Need size for cage liners.** A: Look in the ad for tray has same dimensions as each compartment or ( 1/2 of total length sine there are 2 trays since cage can be divided and use the width measurement. Sorry, don’t have cage handy or I would give you size. **Q: Would this work for baby chicks?** A: Baby chicks might step through the wire mesh floor. That would be my only concern. So for the first few days they would need paper on top of the floor until their feet get bigger. By then they might have outgrown the cage. **Q: Is there enough room in this cage for a cockatiel to actually fly around in it horizontally (left to right) ?** A: I would not our a cockatiel in this cage. I think he could fly a little but it's really more suited for smaller birds. You want this cage! *by C***N on June 11, 2023* If you are a serious bird owner and want a quality cage for your birds, this is definitely one to give consideration to. As you are probably aware of, cages need to be longer than they are taller. Birds fly vertically, not horizontally. I'm currently using this cage as a breeder or my red factor canaries. Once I put my birds in this cage, the automatically started flying from one side to the other, they loved it! Most traditional cages just do not give the bird ample room to fly around. I feel that this cage would be ideal for canaries, finches, parakeets, love birds, cockatiels and other small to medium sized birds. I don't use the food bowls that come with this cage, they are a bit large for canaries. I do use the bowls as bird baths for them, it works perfectly. This cage is definitely a quality cage and made of good solid construction. I use it indoors and even though it gets wet from the birds bathing, I don't have to worry about it rusting. The instructions were sensible, and I assembled it in under an hour. You don't need any tools besides the ones they provide with the cage. For me, I like that an additional cage can be added or stacked on top of this cage if you so choose to.
