Good value imo.The lid is a bit flimsy and thinner than the rest of the can. Definately NOT odor free even with the recommended Gain trash bags- which is why I bought this option. Seems like the odor is stronger in this one than my old one that broke which I can no longer find. The foot pedal needs to come out more so I dont have to tippy toe, I'm not sure how a larger shoe would ever functionally open this trash can w the foot pedal. It seems a little burried back more than it should be. Wearing sandals i have to crush my toes lol. Great size, holds the right amount for my kitchen. As its hard to find this size for that price. The bag holder arms are a convenient feature. But if the bag is too heavy, it starts to pull on these and it is difficult to get the bag back from them... Love the color, matte black is very easy to clean and the main part of the can is thick and seems sturdy enough to last for a while.

Update: Followed the advice of a recent review to contact the manufacturer (which is not Glad). Glad had me call Volume Brands where I left a message. They called me back asking me to email them my Amazon receipt and a photo of the inside of the hinge on the can to show them that I had the "old version" of the can which they admit is faulty (plastic part of the lid that holds onto the pin in the base only goes half-way around the pin; new version goes all the way around). I emailed that to 'info at volumedist dot com' and they promptly sent me a new lid with instructions to install it. Now it works perfectly. Great customer service. They were very timely and proactive!The size of this trash can is exactly what we were looking for - large enough for a family of five so we take out the trash once a day instead of twice. After a few months, as stated in other reviews, the lid pops off with every use making it impossible to open the lid without pushing it back down to snap on. There's no way to open the lid when the hinge pops apart. Another reviewer said she zip-tied the hinge which I did by drilling a few holes for the ties. The hinge on the lid definitely needs to be redesigned. - Update: The lid was redesigned and we quickly received a replacement by contacting the manufacturer.

I really like these trash cans! I was looking for a pair of large size kitchen cans that I could open without touching, I HATE touching the trash! I started with a pair of automatic electric cans but they were unreliable and had too small of a lid opening. Then I found these. They work well with a 30 gallon black trash bag from the rolls sold at Aldi. Those bags go all the way down to the bottom and don't cause the bag holder to slip. The one thing that I had to adjust to was the pedal. If you step too hard it flips past the point of gravity being able to close it and you'll have to touch it to close it, yuck. I just pay attention to how hard I press it and it closes fine on it's own. One of the cans has a little shipping wear on the front which just looks duller than the rest of the can (the left can in the photo) but it's not very noticeable. All in all I really like them and it is a great deal for the size and function!

Easy to use and replace bag. Easy enough to clean. Not super sturdy. I imagine the lid mechanism will wear out somewhat quickly. It works well though. I'm happy enough with it for now.

It is the perfect size and quality for my kitchen. It keeps the trash bags attached without worry. It is easy to use with a set on the petal. I love I don’t have to touch the lid.

It is perfect for my family. Making it much easier than the smaller trash can. The foot step opening is wonderful

I am sooo glad that I purchased this trashcan!! It fits perfectly in my kitchen. I replaced my 12 gallon with this one and it was definitely a GREAT BUY!!! The size is not too big and definitely not too small. The lid works perfectly and it's extremely sturdy. My old trashcan had scratches on it from moving, so this trashcan definitely looks better as well. I also appreciate the ease of removing the trashbags.

Ordered this for 28$ back in March. It's now August and it had worked great up until a few days ago the TINY little know that holds the lid in place that it rotates on broke clean off. There's no fixing it. We have a family of 6 so the size was PERFECT for us! Just what we wanted and could afford on one income. So I come back to order this exact one again because I know the price is decent just to find out the price is almost DOUBLE of what I paid only FOUR months ago!!! Talk about RIP OFF!!! HOW DO YOU JUSTIFY AN ALMOST 20$ PRICE HIKE?!!!!?? INSANE!!! I just wanted to get another trash can that was big enough for a decent price where my kids don't have to lift the lid constantly. Screw that I'll NEVER purchase Glad brand products again. Talk about trash.......gave 2 stars because the size is great and the price WAS good but not anymore. I won't spend 40-60$ on something that doesn't even last 6 damn months!!!!! Wish It came with a warranty!

I love the capacity of this garbage can. Also it has a large opening so you can easily empty other waste basket into this larger one. It also has a holding system that holds your garbage bag in place. So it's always fitted in the garbage can. I use 30 gallon bags. When the lid is closed, no awful smells seep out. The only weakness is the opening of the lid. It's working as usual but when I first received it, the plastic nodule that is crucial for the whole foot pedal lid opening functionality to work was broken probably due to the poor shipping packaging. Each time I press the foot pedal, the lid came off of the garbage can on the side where the nodule was broken. This shows how fragile and dependent the foot pedal lid opening mechanism is. However, I returned the defective one and got a new one that works. It's working so far and it's absolutely wonderful. I hope these nodules will last. The other thing that can be improved is to put some sort of rubber under the garbage can to stop the garbage can from sliding back each time the foot pedal is pressed. It keeps on moving but this annoyance is tolerable but I would prefer if the design team would resolve this minor flaw.

I don't have a lot of space in my kitchen so this works really well because it's tall (opposed to a multiple-bin recycling station). I'm lucky enough to live in a building with a garbage room that has massive recycle bins with categories so I just use a very large and thick shopping bag with handles as a reusable liner and toss all recyclables in (including small to medium flattened boxes) and when it's full, I just take it to the garbage room and toss everything in it's proper bin. Because I have it in a tight corner, I don't use the step-pedal. I just lift the lid. Works perfect for my needs.
