Fantastic little machine (Can I call a hand pump a machine?) Whatever, I ordered Thursday and arrived the following Monday, although I had expected it Saturday. Regardless, I used it to pump water out of a 55 gallon drum. It took 3 pumps to get it started and I was able to fill a 5 gallon bucket in about a minute - less than 2 minutes for sure. Worked very easily. The flow is continuous without pumping again and the flow is fairly strong. To stop it, you simply pick up the outbound flow line and it stops. I have no idea how long it will last, but I imagine if I take a little care of it, it will last quite awhile. The price is very reasonable for this item. I am ordering another one to have as back up or in case I want to use it for another fluid. My husband just read this and told me to add "Tell them it performs better that I thought it would from just looking at it."

Where's the gasket?
Seems like an adequate product. But there isn't a gasket. It seems wrong to sell a product for use with fuel and it doesn't include a gasket. Also, the threads are unnecessarily long so it takes more time to screw it down completely than it could. The threads on the barrel are maybe a half an inch deep and the threads on the unit are an inch and a half so at least twice as deep as necessary. Not a big deal but ill thought out.

I Really Like This Pump!
I really like this pump! Because of the drought here in California our water prices have gone way up even though we have cut use by more than 50%. So cutting back on outdoor watering is a must. So I have been capturing rain water. I have a 55 gallon barrel that I use for this, which fills up fast from water dripping off of my roof. With a full 55 gallon barrel it is impossible to move and be able to put the water to use with ease, which is why I purchased this pump. This pump works great! It is a perfect size and fit for my 55 gallon barrel. The length of the hose is ideal for pumping into a 1 gallon container on the ground. It is quick and easy to use. Just open the top air valve and begin pumping. I was surprised at the volume of water that flows. I highly recommend this pump!

It works!
Someone gave us several blue barrels for saving rainwater . We enthusiastically put them into use collecting water without giving any thought at allto-you know-getting the water out again. We also didn't realize that we were supposed to screen the barrel opening to keep leaves out.I found the Terapump on Amazon ,very reasonably priced , and with many positive reviews. It turned out to be just what I wanted. It arrived fully assembled and with brief but comprehensive instructions. The threaded base of the Terapump easily screwed into the hole on my plastic drum. I put the hose into an open container , pumped the handle briefly, and the water started to flow. I am delighted to be able to have rainwater on hand for the garden, and having this pump makes it very easy to fill & refill my hand-watering can and other containers.

Just what the Dr. ordered
I purchased this pump to transfer cheaper (but the same product) off road diesel fuel from 55 gal drums to my home heating oil tank for my boiler. It's cheaper and I can buy it wholesale. The day my new TRDRUM30 HEAVY DUTY pump came in, a heating oil company delivered oil to my rental house by mistake and over filled my tank. The next day, temperatures rose to almost 80 degrees and the cold oil in the tank expanded and began seeping from the tank's fill bung hole. When I went to the house to check, I could smell heating oil as soon as I arrived. I grabbed this siphon pump and a couple 5 gallon cans and quickly removed enough oil to prevent what could have been a dangerous environmental disaster at my house. Because of this pump, very litle heating oil spilled onto the ground. I intend to use this siphon pump to remove water and sludge from my tanks also. I am very happy with this product and the quality fits my needs perfectly. This pump is great to have on hand for use in many occasions. Just be sure to clean it after every use and store it out of the sunlight.

works well for light use, but do not store in sunlight
I bought this to replace an almost exactly similar pump I bought over a decade ago to go with my emergency water barrels (here in earthquake prone California). The old pump stopped siphoning properly after 12 years because of UV disintegration of the plastic which made it leak air. I suspect the new one is no more UV resistant than the old one, so will not store it in sunlight as I did the old one, which was stored indoors but next to a garage window where it received some direct sun. I only use this pump once every year to empty the barrels to refill them with fresh water, otherwise it's purely for that hypothetical emergency, so it's perfect for that, so long as it lasts. Don't expect a light plastic pump like this to last forever in any case, or to hold up long under frequent use, but it's a good inexpensive solution for my emergency drinking water supply even if I have to replace it every decade or so.

No more "old school" ciphining
I purchased this pump to get the water out of my rain barrels that are sealed (given to me by a friend). There was no way to put in a spigot without damaging the barrels. Growing up, my grandfather taught me how to syphon using gravity. This pump operates on the same principle and it is much more convenient. It really couldn't be any easier to install or to use. I set the barrels up on pallets so the bucket would be lower than the water level in the barrels. A few pumps and the water comes right out. Twist the air cap at the top of the pump and the water stops flowing. While I am sure there are many applications for these pumps, I would definitely recommend these to anyone needing to pump water out of barrels. doitdad
