Finally - a genuinely sturdy locking file cabinet!
I purchased another similar locking file cabinet that had 4 star reviews. What a mistake. It was prob. about $75 less than this one but the front of the drawers was thin, flimsy metal and I knew that if someone did try to pry it open, the metal fronts would bend enough to allow access to the contents. Also, on the other cabinet, the locking mechanism just "held down" the right front of each drawer, again allowing the left side of each drawer (when locked) to open a bit upon pulling. This is enough space to wedge a tool in to bend the drawer front and get inside. This cabinet has much stonger fronts to the drawers, and a replaceable lock if necessary, and overall is very well built. Highly recommend, as it's well worth the price. Why buy a locking cabinet if it can't keep your papers safe?

Nice mid-range filing cabinet.
I got this to replace a junky cabinet which would hardly open and close. This one feels much more solid, so I expect it to work well for many years. The drawers extend almost all the way, so you have good access to the files in the back. There's also a plastic guard at the front which solves the problem of files falling off the end of the rails, which happens in cheaper models. I have the drawers about 3/4 full and they glide smoothly. The latches work well.I would recommend unloading the drawers before moving this filing cabinet. It might not do well with the twisting and impact of moving. Once it place, it seems to be strong enough for all normal uses. We actually bought two of these, and one had a small dent near one corner, but I can't even find it now.I suppose no modern filing cabinet will live up to my favorite old one, obtained second hand and formerly used to store classified documents at an aerospace contractor. Still, for home use this HON cabinet is fine.

Still beats the competition
While these are not the same quality of older Hon file cabinets, they are still better than nearly anything you can get through Amazon or the office products big box stores. For offices, Hon has always been middle of the road, but for home use, these file cabinets are as good as most people will ever need, and they are likely to last as long as you need them. We replaced a 15-year old 4-drawer 310-series cabinet with two 510-series cabinets to better fit the home office we got when we moved. The old cabinet is scratched and dented from a number of moves, but the drawers and latches still work great. It will serve more years in the garage. The first new cabinet arrived without any damage despite a crushed corner on the box (we're waiting for the second to arrive). The steel appears to be thinner, and since they are set up for hanging files they lack the followers of the older cabinets, instead having a wire backing that works for hanging files but not well for standard files. If you have an older cabinet, you can transfer the followers from it, as we are doing. One of the spot welds on the lower front was missed, and we'll see if it affects the rigidity of the cabinet over time. If it was a 4-drawer, I would return it, but the 2-drawer is stiff enough without it that it should not be a problem. The drawers, latches and the lock all work as they are supposed to do--the full suspension cradle is a different design than those in the older cabinets, but they roll smoothly. Overall, these are not as good as the older cabinets, but they are still good, and are a relatively good value.

Damaged in transit; low quality metal
High price for a low-quality cabinet. Metal is very thin. Rollers are adequate, but not even close to the HON I purchased 20 years ago. Why can't we get good quality metal office products anymore? Inadequate box. A cabinet of this size and weight should have double walled box. There is no way this box will protect this product in transit. If you order this for delivery to your house, expect it to be damaged on arrival.

Heavy Duty
This is the only model of file cabinet I'll ever buy. It's heavy duty and has smooth drawers. I can close it with just a slight push and it glides closed. Great cabinet. Perfect for hanging file folders with the built in ledge. No stupid wire insert needed. A bit pricey these days but it'll last forever.

Good enough
I read the reviews AFTER mine was delivered. Probably wouldn't have made much of a difference anyway but like several who wrote mine came with a dent on the right side and a back seam pulled away which said something about the company's quality control. Since mine is going up in the attic not worth the hassle of a return. Found it quite difficult to remove the drawers so that my husband and I could move it up into the attic.(We are both in our mid-seventies) There were two metal pieces inside but no idea what they were for without any sort of booklet. The men who delivered it were very good and took it up to the second floor which is where we live in a 2-family house.

File Cabinet
Was packed well came in perfect condition. The cabinet is one of the best brands and matched the one we purchased years earlier. Also, the drawers on this brand are the better than any file cabinet we ever purchased. More expensive than others, but worth the cost because it is so well made.

Gets the job done; NOT Legal Size
Works well for what it's supposed to do. It's made very well and gets the job done. One caveat: this file cabinet is letter size, meaning it will NOT hold manila envelopes or legal size papers. For a 23 year old who wanted to stow his papers like a grown up, I'm very pleased.
