First off, beats Yellow Out not only in cost but also in effectiveness. Not only does it cost less, but you'll use a lot less. Oh and for the record, I wouldn't wish this situation on anyone except my ex. So my story began in the middle of May after the pool had been open for two months, gotta love the south. I visited my local pool store to tell them that my deep end was green (photo #1) and I couldn't see the bottom.....and so the nightmare begins. The associate told me that the water was balanced and all I needed to do was "Shock the heck out of it". That's $300 of awful advice. See picture #2 to see what the result is after shocking the heck out of yellow (mustard) algae. Return to pool store and got my guy. I showed him pictures and he let out a slow breath and said I had mustard algae and that it is resistant to chlorine so shocking it obviously did nothing. Obviously, thanks for that....another couple 100 dollars later and he issues Yellow Out with a set of directions. The nightmare continues. Treated it that night and the next day I see stuff on the bottom and it kind of changed color (picture #3) but still not quite there. I was told to continue brushing the entire pool to the main drain and if my arms and back weren't hurting I needed to brush again. Finally I was seeing progress after a WEEK of brushing (picture #4). The water was clearing and I was feeling good about my success. Not so fast! We of course had to leave town for beach vacay (I know first world problems) and while we were away I slowly watched my pool turn green on the Ring camera. Each day worse and worse. Now I'm crying. Turns out the pump quit on day two and my robot vacuum was just sitting in a mass of green spreading the blossoms through the top fan to the entire pool (Bring back photo #2). Order new pump, week delay, no pump=no circulation. That week sucked. Ordered more Yellow Out and repeated the process after installing the new pump. See photos 1-4 again. Got the water clear, broke my back scrubbing and of course the blooms came back in the SAME spot. Now I'm crying, sweating and about to give up. I've watched every YouTube video and read everything I could. What was I doing wrong??????? So I noticed that Amazon "recommended for you" included Yellow Treat (mind blown even Amazon knew Yellow Out wasn't working) and it had a different chemical...what did I have to lose at this point. Oh and I highly recommend if something touched your water throw it away, if you can't throw it away, ie. robot vacuum, bleach the crap out of it. Bleach is different than chlorine FYI. Yellow Treat arrives, only needed three capfuls and super shock. Next day it looked like shock laying at the bottom of the pool (Photos #5&6), so instead of brushing I went straight hand vacuum to waste. That's right manually vacuuming the pool. UGH! Which means a lot of refilling the pool. Water is clear and more white stuff at the bottom next day. This was repeated through the week with less and less white showing only I wasn't going to come up short this time. Three more capfuls, a touch more shock, manually vacuum and boom, DONE!!! Water is blue and the robot is back in the pool doing its job(photo #7). Reminder, started in May and here we sit on July 25, finally achieving success. I will maintain it with No Mor Problems and continue my regular routine. This situation cost so much money. More than 2 grand if you include the new pump. I'm a Yellow Treat gal from this day forth, although hoping I'll never need it again. To all of you suffering from the same problem, good luck and stick with it. This freaking algae sucks!!!

This stuff is awesome. Water is crystal clear just a day after application. Just follow the instructions since you'll need a decent amount of liquid chlorine to make sure you kill the algae (I used 2 gal. 12.5% in a 10,000 gal. pool).

This worked incredibly well on a persistent algae problem that regular treatments couldn't fully eliminate. After following the directions, I noticed a significant improvement in water clarity and cleanliness. The results were faster than expected, and it helped restore the pool to a clean, inviting condition. Easy to use and highly effective for tackling tough algae issues. Definitely a product I'll keep on hand for pool maintenance.

My Pool Guy recommended this and it’s been THE best addition to keeping my pool clean on my own! I live in Florida, so during the summer, it rains a lot, which brings a lot of nasty algae. This product is a great deal, and is super easy to just pour in and in 24-48hrs my pool beautiful and clear!

Used the recommended amount only, and it got maybe half of the stubborn algae stain off the wall, so this product wasn't even completely effective. It is now two months later, and because I used this product just one time, I still have to add about 4 times as much chlorine as normal to the pool just to have any measurable amount of chlorine in it, because this product is still in my pool water, and it still continues to eat up all my chlorine. I am now getting worse algae growth than before, as a direct result of using Yellow Treat just one time. I now also have to put 5 tablets a week in the chlorinator and 4 in the floater (so I am going through 9 trichlor tabs a week), plus I have to shock pool twice a week on top of that just to keep chlorine level in the pool above 0.3 PPM. I can't even get the total chlorine level up to 1.0 anymore, no matter how much clorine I put in the pool. I used to have no problem maintaining it at 1.5-3.0 before I used Yellow Treat. I never had a problem like this before with my pool. Yellow Treat permanently screwed my pool chemistry. I have since done some research and learned that you should never add Yellow Treat or anything that says "Sodium Bromide" to a chlorine pool, because all it will do is eat up your chlorine in an attempt to keep converting Bromide into Bromine, which unlike chlorine, isn't stabilized and protected against the UV rays (because your stabilizer will have no effect on protecting Bromine), so basically the sun destroys bromine in no time, in which case it reverts back to Bromide, then the cycle repeats endlessly each time you add chlorine to your pool. So you have a pool that you basically can't keep clean anymore if it gets direct sunlight, and all you will do is add a ton of chlorine to it and wonder why you can't ever get your chlorine numbers into the normal range. Regardless of what anybody says, once you add Sodium Bromide to your pool, it stays in the water basically forever because it doesn't break down or evaporate. As long as it remains in your pool, it will keep eating all your chlorine. The only way to resolve this problem is to dump out all your pool water and refill your pool. If you don't believe me, do a search for this product on any pool maintenance forum where people can post questions and answers. The experienced people who know what they are talking about will tell you what I just wrote here, that in summary, after you use this product, your pool won't support chlorine anymore, it will be a bromine pool after that, which will require much more chlorine than ever before to keep the water clean, and if you want to fix the problem once and for all, literally the only thing you can do is drain your pool and start over. Then if you have any remaining Yellow Treat, you will now know to put it in the trash where it belongs.

The best $20 I've ever spent in my life!! Pictures are taken only 16 hours apart This stuff WORKS!! If you're fighting with yellow algae, buy it! Backstory, my pool is roughly 35k gallons and chlorine. So, I knew it was going to be a tough go getting it cleaned up when we opened it this year, because the pump motor went at the end of last summer and it was closed with leaves, acorns and already a dark green color. This year, we opened it the end of May (today is July 19th). I have been fighting with this pool for 7 solid weeks. I have spent well over $400 in chemicals, I have shocked, I have slammed, I have used gallons of algaecide, I have Flocked, I clarified, I got rid of phosphates, I scrubbed it 3+ times a day, I manually vacuumed daily, I have backwashed more times than I can count.... It was to the point that it was testing perfectly across the board, so my kids were swimming and enjoying a green pool, but for me, it was the bane of my existence this summer. yellow mustard algae is a pool owners worst nightmare. At my wits end I decided to see if there was something else that I could try.... And I found this yellow treat, yellow out, and Jack's magic yellow. After comparing reviews, instructions and prices, I chose this one.... And wow, am I glad I did! I read some forums and watched some videos before using it. I brought my chlorine level up first with 2 bags of shock spread around the entire perimeter of my pool. Then added this all around the perimeter and a good cast across the deep end (not quite double the recommended dose, but a little more than it called for) then I scrubbed the entire pool and then added in another 2 bags of shock and let it run over night..... Low and behold my pool is finally BLUE. It is still cloudy but now I'm finally to a place where a bottle of clarifier should clear it right up! This product will now forever be in my arsenal of chemicals!

This clears the pool for a short time, but I have found that the algae only temporarily goes away. It returns a week or so later.
