Cats love it
I have a seven pound ball of fury names Azrael. Azrael's sole purpose in life is to destroy whatever toys or scratching posts I bring home for her. Azrael is about 15 months old. In Azrael's short 15 months, she has destroyed three scratching posts. Now keep in mind that I don't just keep one scratching post in the house. To the contrary, I have at least one in every room of the house (I just counted nine in my head, but that may be off). My strategy for dealing with adolescent cats/kittens is to place a scratching post or pad in any place that I see them scratching up something I don't want them to scratch up. That strategy, along with a deterrent spray, will work after a while. I have another cat named Lucky who is far more gentle. He also has much larger claws. With opposable thumbs. When he reaches out his claws, it reminds me of that claw game where you can get a free hat. While he is very, very good at keeping his claws retracted, he sometimes needs to exercise them. Therefore, he also does a number on the scratching posts and pads that I bring home even if he uses them far less often. I like these scratching pads because they are inexpensive, and that makes them extremely replaceable when my cats inevitably destroy them. They are also surprisingly durable. The original one I bout about three years ago is still in my home, though I think it's days are now numbered. I see Azrael on it all the time. The problem is that, after three years of use, a small hole has developed. I decided that the hole posed an injury risk to a cat walking on it, so it needed to be replaced. I bought two more. The positives far outweigh the negatives here. Since I've already outlined the positive, I'll mention the negatives as well. The corrugated cardboard is not a barrier of any kind. In other words, if you sprinkle catnip on it, the catnip will fall right through to the floor. I found that when I do this, my cats will try to move the pad out of the way to get at the catnip. I personally don't even understand why they even include catnip. If you have cats, you should probably have some catnip somewhere in the house as well. This also makes a bit of a mess because the small pieces that the cats claw off when they are sharpening their claws fall through to the floor as well. I now have four of these (one of which is going in the trash due to its three years of abuse). I use them specifically in rooms and areas that don't have carpet. That makes the mess easy to clean up. For the rooms with carpet, I opt for a different option. I have two remaining scratching pads in my home that I will probably replace with these once they wear out.

For a Compulsive Scratcher
The Catit scratcher is another purchase in an attempt to save my cat’s claws. Like others, I feel it’s inhumane to take them. The problem is I live with someone who does not feel the same, and is growing frustrated with the numbering claw marks and holes in the house. Baylee, my nine-month-old kitten, has shredded drapes. She sharpens her claws on thousands of dollars worth of Klipsch speakers, the fine-leather sectional sofa, ottomans, my son’s fancy gaming chair, rugs, etc. I have read and tried a lot, including: diverting behavior and applying nightmarish claw caps. So, here I am purchasing her eighth scratcher. Given how long I’ve had her, that equates to more than a scratcher a month. It doesn’t take long before I am picking up pieces of cardboard everywhere, because they too become shredded. She also has three cat towers she can sharpen claws on. Baylee prefers expensive items. I was pleasantly surprised with this scratcher, especially given it’s low price. Due to the photographed kitten’s size in the ad, I worried this would be too small. But, the size is perfect for my nine-pound Baylee. Another plus: it is tightly woven, especially compared to the other scratcher I had shipped the same day. Baylee, and an older cat in the home who doesn’t have claws, both love this. It didn’t take a speck of catnip to lure them either. Baylee was scratching within two minutes of it being on the floor. Baylee is smart. If I catch her shredding speakers, I say firmly, “Baylee, NO, use scratcher”. Eight out of ten times she will. I started when she was tiny. I’d catch her in the act of tearing something up, say the aforementioned, pick her up, place her on a scratcher, and guide/run her paws over it. She caught on. Studies shown cats can understand human vocabulary on par with a two to three-year-old human child. I believe that is a vocabulary of 300 words or so. So, I will keep working with Baylee. Thank goodness for these economical scratchers. This one I’d definitely purchase again. If you found my review helpful please click the helpful icon. Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Works well. A little messy with cardboard scrapes everywhere.

Finally, a toy my cat actually likes!
I had been searching for a Christmas present for my cat that he would actually use and enjoy, unlike all the other toys I've bought him over the years. I figured that since he loves to scratch our carpeting, this would be a good choice, and it turns out that I was right. I gave this to him on Christmas day, and he's been using it ever since. The little package of catnip included in the packing is what initially attracted him to the scratcher, but now he uses it for the pure joy of scratching. So far, this seems sturdier than the cardboard scratchers that you can buy in places like Walmart, but of course, you still get the little cardboard shreds everywhere. A big plus for me (and my cat) is the design of the scratcher. He loves the curvy edges, and usually sits on them while he scratches. Plus, it's never tipped over while in use, which is something I worried about because he's a pretty big boy at around 17-20 pounds. There are only 2 slight negatives about this. One is the green Jungle Stripe design on the sides. It's only been 2 weeks, but on one side the jungle stripe design fell off. This isn't a big deal for me; that's why I gave it 5 stars anyway. The other is that while the scratcher is a good length, it is pretty narrow. My cat can sit or lie on top of it comfortably while scratching, but it's not wide enough to lounge on. From the picture, I expected it to be a bit wider than it is, but since this hasn't affected my cat's use of the scratcher, it isn't much of an issue anyway. Overall, this is a great scratcher, and I would most likely buy this again when my cat destroys his!

My 4 kittens love this Cat Scratcher and it matches my decor too!
Purchased this Scratcher because of how stylish it looked and because it also matches our décor of black and white. Having 4 kittens I wanted to train them to use the scratcher as early as possible before they decided that my furniture is their scratching post and it is a good thing that I did that. Now that they are 13 weeks old they use all their scratch pads and posts that I purchased for them when they were 6 weeks old, thank goodness! Having had this item for several weeks and with daily use, I will say it has held up very well. The price may be inexpensive but the product is not. They use this scratch pad several times a day and I have 4 kittens. If they do try to scratch the dining rooms chairs I just slide the scratch pad right next to them, place their paws on it and they scratch this instead and are off to playing. They are not into catnip yet but they are attracted to everything so I did not need to use the catnip that came with this item. I love how you can turn this scratch pad over if and when it wears down, this way they have more to scratch on. The design is just lovely, it looks like a cute bed with animal stripes. They do enjoy scratching it, playing on it and sleeping on it. So, they do get many uses out of it! Great item! Glad I purchased it and will be purchasing more in the future! Great item for all cat/kitten owners for sure!

What’s up with the intolerant price fluctuations?
My cat adores his Catit scratchers & I have been purchasing them for him since I rescued him 7 years ago. He couldn’t care less about the catnip though. My fellow cat loving neighbors have come accustomed to opening their door with catnip packets waiting for them. With that being said, if you place this scratcher on carpet be prepared to either vacuum under it daily or risk a permanent stain on your carpet exactly in the shape of the Catit scratcher. I’ve since been placing it on hardwood flooring & there is a significant amount of dust that accumulates underneath it between my vacuuming schedule. This was all well worth the happiness it brings Mr. Fezziwig. I have started buying the Amazon Basics version for 2 reasons. The scratches don’t have the curve that he love to sit on, but they do come in a little box that catches most of the debris. That honestly wasn’t the dealbreaker though. It’s the price fluctuations. Over the last 7 years the fluctuations are impossible to predict. I’ve purchased them at $6.57, $7.32, $6.26, $11.98 & so on. I learned a few years ago to buy them in bulk when the price was low. The current price is $13.49 & it hasn’t gone down. That’s unacceptable. I’ve been buying a brand of high quality kibble on Amazon for 7 years & the price has stayed the same. Why can’t the same go for a piece of cardboard? Honestly it’s cardboard. I don’t care if it has a jungle stripe on it or not. Mr.Fezziwig certainly doesn’t care. So we have parted ways with the Catit brand & honestly Mr. Fezziwig is just as pleased with the Amazon brand. I could be wrong, but since cardboard isn’t something that is needed to be imported to the USA I can’t accept this price. Bye bye Catit. Bye bye.

Such a deal!
This Catit Style Scratcher with Catnip is such a deal and my cats went for it immediately. I have 6 cats and we use these corrugated cardboard scratchers to keep them from scratching the furniture. When I saw the price of this one, I was skeptical because they are usually much more expensive but I ordered 2 anyway. I was very impressed when they arrived. It is a lounger style although a very large cat will hang off since it's only 19 1/2" long and not super wide. It also comes with a small packet of catnip. You sprinkle the catnip onto the scratcher to entice your cat and it does work. My cats took to it immediately. You can also turn it over when your cat destroys one side so you really get twice the use. Yes, some the catnip will fall through the scratcher onto the floor and yes, you may have to sweep it up if your cat doesn't roll around in it and eat it but it really doesn't seem like a problem to me. You will also have to sweep up tiny bits of cardboard as the scratch away on it. It's still better than having my cats scratch up my couch or chair. We go through these frequently with 6 cats so I am thrilled to find this brand. At only about $7 each, they are a bargain.

It's light weight and can be put away or easily moved. He has stopped scratching other things in ...
The cat loves this thing. Without adding catnip the cat was scratching it 30 seconds after being taken out of the box!! He sleeps on it, lounges on it and scratches it a dozen times a day. It's light weight and can be put away or easily moved. He has stopped scratching other things in the house (ie- furniture and me....) AFTER adding catnip he went crazy for it! Love love love! Will buy another one when this one needs to be replaced.

Fazit: einfach anwendbar. Willkommene Abwechslung. Umweltfreundlich, da aus Pappe hergestellt. Sehr gutes Preis- / Leistungsverhältnis. Sehr zu empfehlen.

My cat loves it
Personally I am not allowed to use the Catit board as my cat will not share it. I have purchased scratch boards for her previously, round ones with toys, poles & ramped but nothing has appealed to her like this
