Recieved March 2019 **Q: can this be stored for a week or two? how soon should i start using it?** A: We received live caterpillars about 2 weeks ago. You can probably store for as much as a day or two as everything they need is in the container, but I wouldn't wait much longer as things start happening quickly. **Q: I'm in Vegas so in 3 weeks it'll be 50-55 at night ? So will they survive after I release them** A: From the Insect Lore web site "Release your butterflies when daytime temperatures are at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Butterflies need this warmth to fly, feed, mate and pollinate." ........ Also, "Adult butterflies typically live for 2 to 4 weeks during the warm parts of the year. During that time they will feed, mate, lay eggs, and begin the amazing butterfly life cycle, or metamorphosis, all over again!" The kids loved watching the butterflies emerge and letting them go in the garden. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very fun *by J***A on June 29, 2024* We received our 5 pink lady caterpillars, 4 successfully attached to the top and turned to chrysalis’s, one caterpillar fell or was knocked down. I left him and he still turned to a chrysalis. I did some research and hooked it to a q-tip and taped to the top. He did turned and did attempt to emerge, however he had difficulty emerging and his wings ended up drying crumpled. I tried to assist but by the time I realized what was happening his wings had already dried. I had a butterfly wing expert once tell me I could either keep them and feed them if they cannot fly or place them in the freezer as it humanly freezes them quickly and painlessly, that is what I chose to do.
