The absolutely best cordless phone I've ever used (and I have bought a lot of them).
My mother-in law is hard of hearing (90 years old), so I considered this phone for her. It turned out she got a closed caption phone instead, but here's the surprise. We added this phone to our network - so we have both Uniden and this Panasonic cordless phone. Guess what. She can hear us better when we talk to her on the Panasonic - the sound quality is better in both directions.I recommended this to a friend of mine for his father (90+) and it was a night and day difference for my friend's father. He can talk on the phone again. The phone is easy to use. It has one of the best displays I have ever seen. The programming system is clever. You can do the menu thing to set it up, but if you're willing to use a few shortcuts, you can enter programmings much faster (although not recommended for the technology-challenged among us).So here's the best recommendation I can give. I'm buying more of them today. I have searched high and low for a quality cordless phone and Panasonic has hit a home run with this one.As another example of their fine engineering: It uses two normal AAA Ni-mh batteries. How nice! Years from now when I need to replace the batteries, I just need to pop in some regular cells purchased almost anywhere. No hunting for battery packs of questionable quality on eBay! Thank-you Panasonic. Here's another clever thing they did. When the power goes out, the base quits working (because it's plugged in) and your phones quit working. There are some models where you can buy a battery pack for the base. But Panasonic had a smarter idea. Use the batteries in the phone. If a charged phone is left in the base and the power goes out, the base will still run using the batteries in the phone. Clever to add a feature like that without adding cost. Genius!Even if you do not have hearing problems, I think you'll appreciate this phone. I don't have hearing loss, but I really appreciate good audio, convenient features, and well-designed easy-to-use products. And this phone hits the mark. One other point - the range is excellent. We always had limits in our house with the 5 GHz Unidens. Not so with this phone. I have the base unit in the basement (not the best place for the radio) and I have complete coverage of the house as well as a couple of my neighbors. It sits right next to my wireless router and I have no problems with either of them. Excellent RF design!Battery life is excellent. It can go a week without charging, no problem. A clever thing they do is light up an amber indicator to let you know (from a distance) that the phone is charging. So it's easy to tell that A) the charger is plugged in; and B) the phone needs some charge. Now for the cons and maybe you can help me. The headset and speaker built into the phone are excellent. But I have not been able to find a headset that is anywhere close to the quality of the phone itself - and I really like to use a headset. Price is not object. I want a headset that is equal to the sound quality of this phone. I've bought dozens of them, many from "big names" and have always been disappointed. Any recommendations on a good headset? Thanks for reading. I hope this review helps you and you have the same experience I have. I have an engineering background, and there are not many consumer products I have purchased where I have been so impressed by the thought, the skill, and the consideration of the customer as this product. If I were on their development team, this would be a product I would be very proud of.Chris

Great phones with features that help the elderly.
I purchased this phone set to replace another Panasonic phone set. The previous Panasonic phones still worked after several years however there seemed to be some inconsistency in their performance. So I research Amazon and found this new phone set.First let me give some background information. My parents are the primary users of these phones. They are in their 80s. My Dad has hearing issues. Also, they are of the generation that will never cut the land line off. The land line is their life line so I really needed to find a good cordless phone for them.PROS:1. Great sound! Not only can my parents hear better on these phones, I can hear them much clearer and louder when I am talking to them. Before, sometimes the phone would 'cut out' on my end. I'm not sure what it was but with the old phones, what I would hear from them would not be at a consistent volume level. It would fade in/out. That is no longer an issue with these new phones. When I call them and they answer, I can hear them loudly and clearly. This is great especially when I call them from my car and they are on my blue tooth. I'm not sure what it is called but the new digital technology in these phones really make the calls crisp and clear.2. Talking Caller ID. This is great! My folks can hear who is calling without having to look at the phone.3. Call Block. You can set up the phone to block calls from 'Out of Area' or 'Unknown'. This is a nice feature for my folks as they are bombarded by telemarketers. If someone calls, and you don't want to hear from them again, just set up a 'filter' and those calls will no longer through. The phone intercepts them and then disconnects the call.4. Large display screen. The screen on this phone is huge! Almost 2". I think 1.9" to be exact. The letters and numbers are large and easy to read.5. Large numbers and buttons. The buttons on these phones are very huge. This makes it easy for my folks to dial a number. On the old phones, the numbers were kinda small.6. Battery life. These phones can hold a charge up to 11 days. This is great! My folks always complained that the old phones would not hold a charge. I think the batteries were going bad in the old phones as they were very old. Regardless, having a longer battery life is great! Also, the phone tells you 'Charge for 7 hours' when it is time to charge. When charging a big yellow LED on top lets you know when it is charging. Once it is done, the light goes out. So that is a plus too as my folks always are wanting to know when the charging is done.7. Remote voice mail checking. If my folks are gone or if I need to check their messages, I can do that remotely as they are times when they don't know to check the voice mail messages. The phone will tell you that you have messages but my folks don't always remember how to get their messages.CONS:1. The only one is sometimes it is difficult for my folks to check the Caller ID and see who has called. To do that you have to hit the 'left' arrow then hit the 'up' or down' arrow to scroll through the callers. I'm not sure this is so much a CON as just it is difficult for my folks to understand this.Overall, this is a great phone set. I got the model with 2 handsets but I think you can add more. I would highly recommend these phones. They are great!
