Powder for Dogs - Dog Tartar and Plaque Remover - 60g

My vet recommended this when I adopted a new dog. I now use it religiously on both my dogs and have seen such a big difference. My now two year old dog has no plaque on his teeth. My senior dog, who is the incredibly picky eater, eats his dinner with no problem! When I go a week or so without using it I see a huge difference in their breath. It’s worth every penny.

I started using ProDen PlaqueOff for my dog as a preventive dental care supplement. She is only 1 year and 5 months old and already has naturally fresh breath, but I wanted something to help maintain her oral health long-term. The powder is very easy to mix into her food, and she eats it without noticing it at all. It’s convenient, requires no brushing, and fits easily into her daily routine. I also like that a small amount goes a long way, so the container lasts a while. Overall, it’s a simple way to support ongoing dental health and keep her teeth and breath in good condition as she grows.

This stuff isn't gonna work miracles as a substitute for actually getting your dog to chew their food and use their teeth, but it is a noticeable improvement to their plaque and breath even so. It's an addition to help their teeth, but it's not a substitute, if that makes sense. My dogs hate teeth brushing; I got them older and they hadn't had it before. So I use this, dental chews, and other lick things with fluoride in them to keep their teeth in as good of shape as I can manage. At the end of the day, convincing your pet to slow down and chew their food is the best bet to healthy teeth, and slow feeders are good for that, and dental chews, but I have two labradors, who see food and immediately lose all reason, so other stuff like this tarter stuff is needed. It does help, but it's not going to replace the need for being mindful of your pet's teeth. It does have a strange smell. My dogs don't mind it mixed into their food, but they're labs, and that breed eats anything. A picky eater might be wary. My biggest complaint though, and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is the container itself. Its so tall and narrow-- smaller than the photo makes it look-- that it's hard to get the stuff out once you're halfway through the thing. I ended up buying another container to just dump the stuff into, but it sucks to have to do that when I'm already paying 20+ dollars for a pretty small thing.

My dog is a rescue, he's almost twelve and has never had dental work done. Mainly because it's incredibly expensive. Second reason is because by the time we found out he needed work done he was already "too old" to take the risk for putting him under. His biggest issue is arthritis, but he has horrendous breath. He loves chew bones, but has sensitive gums, likes getting his teeth brushed, the teeth wipe things (because they're minty, and he loves mint), we've even tried doggie mints. My husband and I ordered this, along with enzymatic toothpaste and a toothbrush, and Musher's Wax. We already knew our baby boy loves seaweed, it's one of his favourite treats. But right now he's so excited to eat his food he either hovers or starts eating while I try to avoid spilling the PlaqueOff on to the carpet. We also decided to give him two scoops a day for the first two weeks, just to increase our chances of it working out for him. His breath, despite us only using this for three days, has already gotten better. I'll update further, after two weeks and then two months, with the addition of brushing his teeth after the two week mark. But he really likes it, so does my cat. She also loves seaweed, but we don't feed it to her because she free feeds and would never reach the bottom of her dish. Puppy licks his bowl clean. He also consumes dry food, from Blue Buffalo (it's the grain free senior chicken one, because he's also grain sensitive and it keeps him from breaking out in hives), and rarely consumes wet food except as a treat around the holidays. He has no problems eating the two of them together. I imagine this will last us about four and a half months, since the 60g bottle says it should last for six months at his weight class. We'll most likely order the 120g bottle after this one is over. You can see that on Chewy if you need more information about this product. I did my research on multiple websites to see if this would be a good fit, I'm glad I bought it. EDIT 2 WEEKS AND 4 DAYS LATER;; RATING CHANGED FROM FOUR STARS TO FIVE We just brushed Toto's teeth and two medium sized chunks of tartar build up just popped off of one of his back molars! His tooth was still intact and not at all rotted, it was even white! I'm so impressed with this product, I highly recommend it to pet parents who can't afford an actual dental cleaning for their dog. Yes, it has made his poop softer (so does grain) but he's only had a very minor bout of diarrhoea, and that's because he stresses himself out sometimes. He is still really excited to eat his breakfast and dinner, we're going to stick with twice a day until he's finished this bottle. Maybe even just stick with twice a day period because he absolutely enjoys eating again. I couldn't be happier. My husband and I will definitely keep ordering this. P.S. His breath smells a little like seaweed now. It's not the most pleasant but it is definitely better than before.

I'm actually not certain what "star" to give this...I do believe it probably has benefits to some animals, but I really caution pet parents to research supplementing this to their pets, especially if they have ANY kind of thyroid condition. While the label advises against supplementing this to dogs with hyperthyroidism, the website for the company actually says any thyroid condition. My dog Max is HYPO-thyroid, and is taking a thyroxine supplement to control it. I believed, since the label only stated caution with hyperthyroid dogs, it would be safe for him. Come to find out that this seaweed meal is Ascophyllum nodosum (found that also on the company's website), which is also known by other names such as egg wrack, rock weed, and bladderwrack. It has a lot of iodine in it, which is what affects the thyroid, which historically is supposed to make the thyroid overactive (hence the admonishment to avoid with already hyperthyroid animals). But recent research has found that large amounts of iodine can actually also have the reverse affect and slow the thyroid down (hypothyroid). It appears there is still a lot to be learned about iodine and the affect on the thyroid. Unfortunately, it seems to have had very negative affect on my dog, creating an autoimmune response that is potentially life-threatening. Ascophyllum nodosum also has high immunostimulation properties, which is great for those who need it. But it appears to have possibly created a situation for my dog in which his immune system started attacking his red blood cells, caused a severe anemia, and has already had to have one blood transfusion. They are going to have to start him on high doses of prednisone and multiple transfusions to get his body to stop killing the new red blood cells. The only thing that was different in his surroundings/food/life was this supplement. This seaweed is also vulnerable to absorbing heavy metals from the surrounding waters it is harvested in - lead, zinc, etc. Please be cautious when administering this your pet, and always consult your vet, PLEASE. I am just sick that this is the likely cause of my dog's life-threatening anemia.

Overall, it’s a decent supplement that delivers real dental benefits, but the potential side effects and high cost keep it from being a perfect product.

I have to say I honestly didn't think this would work. I have a Maltese mix who is 8 years old. Gwames has had his teeth cleaned by the vet every year starting when he was 4 years old. His breath gets so bad in between cleanings the vet recommended he get his teeth cleaned every 6 months. My sister wouldn't even hold him, and he just needed to look at you from across the room and you could smell his breath. It was godawful, but I have to say Gwames wasn't the reason we bought this product. My sister's Pomeranian is four and the groomer said one day his teeth are horrible. She showed me his toothbrush that had blood all over it, and said she just did one swipe. Since Gwames has had numerous vet cleanings I knew we were looking at $600+ for both Gwames and Tokes (the pom). I decided to start brushing their teeth (too little too late I know). Tokes hated it and it took three of us just to hold his head still enough to open his tiny mouth. I found this product on Amazon and read the reviews. It was mixed and I figured if I combine this with a regular teeth brushing maybe I could avoid having to get their teeth cleaned. This was a month ago. Gwames and Tokes not only have discoloration on their incisers, but almost a cement build up on every one of their back teeth. Gwames teeth look like rough rocks in the back of his mouth and the stuff was just as hard. I have used Plaqueoff faithfully twice a day with Tokes and once a day with Gwames for this entire month. Regularly I would look at their teeth and judging by the incisers I would say not a vast improvement. I was just a second ago snuggling with Gwames and I pulled his lips back even farther and noticed the entire bottom row of his back teeth on both sides were clean! There was absolutely no cement at all. His top teeth still had the cement look but I ran my fingernail over it and some of it chipped off! I just checked Tokes mouth and while again the discoloration is still evident, the nasty cement is slowly coming off. I can't stress enough just how bad their teeth were a month ago. A lack of cement in some areas has previously only been accomplished by a vet cleaning. I just bought a second bottle (still the small one because up until now the only thing I had noticed was kissable breath, which is a feat in itself but not enough to stave off a vet bill). I am bolstered by this reduction of the cement and will continue to use Plaqueoff! Gwames is getting too old to be put under, this is so simple and the dogs don't notice a thing.

I honestly thought this product was a scam. I’d seen all the photos of people’s dogs losing chunks of tartar and thought, “There’s no way.” I’ve tried just about every dental product out there, and nothing has ever made much of a difference. I have a four-year-old Pomeranian, and we’ve brushed his teeth religiously since he was a puppy. If I’m being honest, brushing alone has done surprisingly little. After about two weeks of using the ProDen PlaqueOff Powder, we added the dental bones (we break them in half). Then one day, a huge piece of tartar on one of his back molars literally chipped off. I couldn’t believe it. Since then, I’ve been able to gently remove tartar from some of his front teeth too. This is the only dental product I’ve ever found that actually works. Considering professional cleanings can cost $600 or more, I wish I’d found this sooner. I don’t usually leave reviews, but this one earned it.

Ich war anfangs ehrlich gesagt skeptisch und habe es nur bestellt, weil es so viele gute Rezensionen hatte. Aber Leute: Es funktioniert! 😍🙌 Unsere Hündin hat sehr mit Zahnstein zu kämpfen 🦷😩. Das Pulver rettet uns gerade wirklich den Hintern, denn sonst hätte wahrscheinlich wieder eine Zahnsanierung unter Vollnarkose angestanden – und das hatte sie bereits hinter sich. 😔💤 Und das Beste: Der Zahnstein lässt sich mittlerweile kinderleicht mit meinem Fingernagel abkratzen! 😱🦷✨ Kein mühsames Schrubben oder Herumprobieren – er löst sich wirklich erstaunlich leicht. 🙌🙏❤️ Ich bin wirklich positiv überrascht und kann es bisher absolut empfehlen! 🐾✨

I've waited to review this product until we'd used it daily for a month. The left photo shows my dogs teeth before and the right photo shows after one month of use. Positives - his breath does seem to be nicer, he doesn't mind the taste of it and he's notoriously picky, it's actually quite affordable because despite the initial cost being high you use so little that a single jar will last many months. No further plaque has developed. I think his teeth are a little whiter and brighter. Negatives - so it's not a cure all. The amount of plaque hasn't really changed all that much but we also bought an ultrasonic cleaner and he has a toothbrush to use as well. We'll launch into that now but I really wanted to use JUST the plaque off product for a month to see what happened before I muddied the results with other products. Possibly great long term to avoid plaque development but you should probably start with a full dental clean as it doesn't make a huge difference to already developed plaque. Ultimately I think this is a great addition to your dogs dental hygiene routine but it's not a cure all - especially if the dog already has developed plaque. I'll be really interested in the long term results now once we get the a full dental clean as to whether ProDen continues to make a difference in plaque development. We'll continue buying it.

Il mio cagnolino di 13 anni, peso 14kg, dopo una lunghissima terapia con cortisone aveva un alito pestilenziale e i denti tutti marroni per il tartaro, oltre a gengive che sanguinavano solo a guardarle. Ho iniziato a usare sia l'additivo in acqua che l'alga bruna e in venti giorni l'alito è tornato normale e il tartaro si sta disgregando a vista d'occhio. Ovviamente ci vuole tempo e costanza ma lo consiglio anche per cani super sospettosi come il mio (se vede che aggiungo qualcosa al cibo piuttosto digiuna), che non si è accorto di niente. Diminuire la carica batterica della bocca è fondamentale, tanto che ha ripreso il suo solito vigore dopo essere rimasto infermo per mesi: l'alga bruna aiuta pure per l'acidità di stomaco e infatti il mio vecchietto non mangia più erba nè sta avendo le solite coliti.
