LOCKDOWN GunSaver Dehumidifier with Slim, Low Profile Design, Easy Installation and Simple Operation for Vault Humidity Control and Rust Prevention

I purchased this to keep the humidity and temperature constant in my gun safe. It works perfectly, keeping humidity level between 32 and 35% and the temperature around 73 degrees. I have a large safe and it took a week or so for everything to stabilize, but after that period, it has remained constant. The unit is very warm to the touch, of course, but not burning hot. Highly recommended. I recommend a monitor to accompany this such as the Acurite 613A1 so you can keep track of the humidity and temperature inside the safe.

I liked this product for the ease of installation. This dehumidifier worked immediately. You can tell whether or not a dehumidifier is working by the heat being emitted by the bar. It is not hot enough to burn you, but it is warm to the touch. If I needed another dehumidifier, I would purchase it from this company.

Works great. My safe didn't have a hole predrilled so that was a bit of a task making one. But once I did, it worked great. Gets a lot hotter than I had thought it would, but that is how it works. If I could do it over again I would maybe consider getting the smaller size as I think it would have been adequate, but I figured go big or go home.

Like most people, I bought this in an effort to climate control my safe. Mainly I am worried about humility but would also like to keep the safe contents a bit warmer in the winter months. Because my safe is in the garage, it will regularly dip down into the 30s at night. Since I have installed this device, I have noticed the humility stays below 35% but it doesn't seem to do much for the temperature of the safe, which is surprising since it is essentially a small heater. However, that is not the devices intended purpose so it is hard to fault them for it. The reason I took off a star is because of its design. It is simply a bare metal rod that gets fairly hot. It does worry me a bit that if a piece of fabric or paper were to make contact with it for an extended period of time, it might catch fire. Having some kind of guard around it would make me feel better about the device though.

Super easy to install -- 18 inches long with a 110-120 volt AC plug, 6 foot cord and protects up to 200 cubic feet. Available in 12" & 18" models. Why buy a rechargeable one if you have a plug inside your safe or a wall plug hole to run the cord outside the safe and plug into the wall. This is the way to go all the way!!

They are great units, however, my safe in a unheated garage and my humidity gage says low temp and high humidity when placed more then a foot away from the golden rod. IMy gun safe is a little over 600 cubic feet and I have two 18inch and one 12 inch working during temp blow 30 degrees. So too be honest I don't know if my gage is off or what. Saying that, I have had no rust issue too date.

works great. keeps my safe at 41% humidity in a basement with a couple dessicant bags. i also have 1 safe in my garage that is not climate controlled and the golden rod is able to keep it under 45% humidity. Be ready to receive a black rod in lieu of the advertised golden rod. it works just as well as the "golden Rod" brand.
