Excellent drivecam! But there are things you should know...
I bought this on PrimeDay at a steep discount, at a price low enough to trigger my "Why not?" reflex. After using it for the past week, there are several key things to know about this great device.1. It installed extremely easily and quickly in my 2012 Mazda3 hatchback. I mounted the rear camera on the inside of the hatch, to the bottom of the center brake light. And since the backup lights are part of the hatch, the backup sensor wire was easy to install. I was surprised how easily the wires tucked away, a job made easier by the included spudger (small plastic pry-bar) tool. The system worked the first time.2. Going with a full-screen mirror replacement drivecam was ABSOLUTELY the right way to go. The rear camera is always displayed, and its wide-angle view completely eliminates the blind spots near my rear quarter panels. The screen also prevents all mirror glare, be it from sun reflections or headlights at night.3. Talking about night: The "night-vision mode" pushes the display contrast to its limit, creating a significant background glow, making it less useful than hoped for. However, the regular display is perfectly good for night use, and the night-vision mode isn't even needed. No more headlight glare from that big truck behind you!4. In use, there is one significant difference I didn't expect: With a normal rear-view mirror, your eyes stay focused at infinity when glancing from looking forward to the rear-view mirror. With a screen, your eyes need a brief moment to focus on the screen to see what's there. It's easy to get used to, but a little disconcerting for the first hour or so of driving.5. There is a choice to run the display at 30 or 60 fps. Always use 60, even though it takes more power, as it helps ensure your peripheral vision will more quickly be attracted to sudden changes in the rear view. However, 60 fps can also cause some strobing in the view, especially if there are LED lights there, so use 30 if that bothers you.6. The on/off sound is annoying, but is easy to silence in the menu.7. Be sure to enable the light adaptation mode, which dims the screen backlight to match the brightness the front camera sees.8. The system allows you to adjust all display views simply by touching the screen and sliding your finger. The rear camera has two views, one normal and one when backing up. For the backup view I was able to adjust the view to look almost straight down, letting me confidently park in very tight places. No more "parking by touch"!This is truly a great device. Even at its regular price, it's a tremendous value. Nothing but quality.Don't even bother getting a dashcam that doesn't have a full-width screen that mounts on the rear-view mirror. And don't bother getting one without a rear camera. That's why I call it a "drivecam", since it makes driving easier and safer.

Things to improve the product to make it fantastic!
Item is great except it doesn’t stay in place well. Constantly have to readjust after a small adjustment to the mirror. To fix this, the arm where the camera is located should also be adjustable up and down and have a little lock in place tab feature. That would make it 25% better. It should be noted in description of product that you need a mechanic to hook up the rear back up camera for it to work.I haven’t hooked up the rear camera yet and it should be noted that when you do have it hooked up yet you can’t see to back up using the mirror because the camera starts to record from the front if the car when the engine is started. For functionality there should be a toggle to take it immediately from front record view to rear view mirror view when you start the car and need to reverse right away instead of sitting and waiting for the camera to shut off as you can’t see the review mirror through the front camera recording.

It works
I was in an accident involving a texting driver an decided I need a front and rear Camera. I choose this model over hundreds I had viewed on line. For about $80.00, my model did not have GPS or WIFI.After reading some other reviews on different models and options, some people complained about shaking pictures. While many are similar in design, I was only interested in 10 inch touch screens and keep my investment under $100.00. I went to a salvage yard and acquired a second rear view mirror for the install. I attached the DVR to the new mirror and found that the rubber pads on the back of the DVR did not touch the glass on the mirror. I replaced those pads with thicker ones and applied a dab of silicone to the pads and strapped the DVR to the mirror and waited for it to cure over night. The DVR successfully bonded without stress on the silicone straps. (They give you an extra set of silicone straps) and I mounted it on the windshield. I mounted the rear camera to the topper of my pick up cap, high and just below the third break light. Now I can see my trailer hitch while backing and hooking up. I then installed a second battery and a battery isolator for keeping that battery charged. Then I relocated the wires that supply the cigar lighter and curtisy lights to the second battery. My starting and running battery are now separated from the DVR, curtisy and phone charging battery. Now I can leave my DVR and phones charging while I park for extended hours and over night without fear of draining the starting battery and leave the DVR on continuous recording for extended periods and reduce the need for the G Shock parking lot option.I read another review on the front camera following the angle of the rear view mirror causing the camera to look more to the right side of vision. This is easily remedied by swiping the screen left/right, up/ down and will remain to your selected position. This also applies to the rear camera for up/down.The pros:(1) It is what they say it is(2) Fast and easy set up by their instructions or a custom mount like mine.(3) Can be easily moved to another car if you don't hide the wires.(4) You can monitor activity from behind you at night while parked. It sees well in the dark and by simply stepping on the break pedal you can see so much more.(5) You are not blinded by high beam tail gators at night. They appear further away and less intimidating. This allows you to readjust the SIDE view mirrors slightly and prevent the blinding light from directly reflecting in you eyes. This is a huge safety plus.(6) It works just fine as a simple rear view mirror.(7) Amazon offers a 1 to 3 year product protection plan for your device. A huge plus!(8) The outside appearance of a mirror mounted to another mirror is not as awkward looking as I thought it might be. The black mirror mounted to black mirror high on my windshield is practically invisible. The cons:(1) The front camera rubber mount are not thick enough to match the depth of the plastic hem surrounding the glass of the rear view mirror. Consider that a source of vibrating recordings up front. Thicker pads can be easily found elsewhere. Just remove, cut and fit and then apply new ones.(2) The rear camera is subject to the vortex of winds produced at the back of a traveling car causing mud and water droplets to dance on the rear recorded screen. (I carry a small spray bottle of windex. Just pull over and wet and go as needed)(3) Price, I would have loved to get this much quality and function at a lower price. It is however, a great must have, value. Don't hesitate, it is worth the investment with the optional protection plan provided by Amazon.
