Pat was in the midst of his Dot Records prime when these two LPs charted at #13 and #26 in '58 and '60. His warm voice gently caresses old chestnuts like Moon glow; the Very Thought of You; Who's Sorry Now; It's a Sin to Tell a Lie; Imagination; Unchained Melody; Lazy River; Sweet Sue; They Can't Take That Away from Me; Sweet Georgia Brown; Gone Fishin' 26 tracks!

Smooth & soothing Pat
A most welcome return to a collector's must-have list. The melodic and romantic voice of Pat delivering songs from the American Songbook which reminds a listener that the old performers can sound pretty good when their music is re-mastered.Moonglow & Yes Indeed are two titles you can happily add to your collection and boast about when someone asks who the singer is.

Wonderful Pat Boone
I grew up with Pat Boone, but didn't know he recorded all these songs. They are all wonderful, easy to listen to, and bring back many pleasant memories. Amazon did it again.

Pat Croone #2
Pat Boone himself was obviously chuffed to bits when he heard that Sepia were about to release this CD. And he has every right to be proud of both the albums that make up this CD. Gone are the Rock-n-Roll style numbers that initially made him one of America's bestselling artists of the mid-fifties, enter a remarkably mature and sincere treatment of the Great American songbook. There are some remarkably good versions of "The Very Thought of You", "Hands Across the Table", "You Always Hurt the One You Love", "Gone Fishin'"(with some soulful preaching by trombonist Murray McEachern), title track "Moonglow", "Don't Worry 'Bout Me" and "They Can't Take That Away From Me". The original album Moonglow (from 1960), as could be expected, is mainly soft lights and sweet music (with two oddities: a hillbilly-ish "San Antonio Rose" and a reversion to Pat's popular style in "Who's Sorry Now") with a creamy, string laden orchestra backing him (plus a wonderful trombone choir and the odd alto-sax and violin solo). From 1958 comes Yes Indeed!, which finds the orchestra in a more brassy groove without getting too abrasive however. In some of the swinging tunes Pat sounds perhaps slightly out of his depth (his brasher compatriot Bobby Darin was more convincing in that department), but not enough to withhold five stars. Excellent entertainment by excellent entertainers. To paraphrase Oliver Twist: could we have some more, please?

Pat Boone - A True Star
Absolutely outstanding remastering of two of Pat Boone's highly popular albums from one of the biggest hitmakers of yesteryear. Superb vocals and orchestrations throughout. This guy could certainly sing....one of the true 'greats' and so good to hear his quality standing the test of time.
