This pin needs to be free to move in order for the aperture lock to function correctly, and by extension the aperture to function at all. Unmodified the light seal ring kept the pin permanently depressed and thus forced the aperture to remain fully open. There should have been a cutout in the seal to accommodate the pin, or the seal should have had a slightly wider internal diameter. It is possible that this particular lens had a slightly non-standard configuration, or that the M42 lens mount was not consistent in the placement of these pins, I'm not familiar enough with these lenses to know. Either way, having to modify a product to function correctly however complicated a process, disqualifies it from a 5 star rating, I still feel that this product was well worth the price. Be aware that this was an easy fix performed with a fine edged metal file, however not everyone has such tools or something equally suited readily available, or is as experienced with them as I am. For those who are, you will want to mark where the pin rests when fully screwed in, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD REMOVE THE LENS, and then file away just enough space for it to freely move.

This is my 1st (and last) experience with a low cost m42 to micro 4/3s adapter. As you may know micro 4/3s already has a cropped sensor meaning you get a small scope for photos to shoot as it is (as opposed to full frame) this adapter crops it even further to the point that it’s completely impractical to use a m42 50mm lens for anything besides certain macro shots of products and even then only a quarter of the image will be sharp and the rest outside that small zone will be blurred (softened) outwards. I am a beginner photographer so i didnt learn of this phenomenon until AFTER purchase. Part of the solution is getting a m42 to micro 4/3a “speed booster” adapter INSTEAD of this- at least this is what i read- as this will improve the image result due to lowering the focal length and decrease the amount of cropping compared to using this. A speed booster is more expensive though and I dont own a vintage lens worth the investment of that yet so personally im skipping these adapters altogether and getting a native prime lens

The M42 to MFT adapter is honestly better than I expected. I was really expecting a plastic body with metal mounts due to the low price. However I was surprised that this is a solid and durable feeling adapter. I honestly think the camera mount would fail before the adapter. If that's what holding you back, don't let it. Really decent product. Flange distance is correct and the threads are proper pitch. I really have nothing bad to say
