Regarding the Gateway Essential 700S desktop computer, this computer also had a FireWire port in the front of the computer so the black cable from that frontal port easily plugged into the internal 6 contact port of the Star Tech 4 port PCI 1394a FireWire adapter card. Needless to say, that activated the frontal FireWire port on the Gateway Essential 700S desktop computer. Needed to hook up an older DV Cam to my PC. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Added much needed Firewire to my PC to convert old DV tapes to digital. *by R***S on March 31, 2020* Everyone recommends getting cards with a Texas Instruments chipset. This is one of them. Installed in minutes into my PC. Booted up and was instantly recognized in the Windows 10 OS. No additional driver installs were necessary. Used a Sony i.Link Cable (VMC-IL4615) and tested by connecting to each of my old video cameras (Sony DCR-TRV310 and a Canon ZR500). Opened Windows Photo Gallery software app and it recognized both cameras and I was able to preview what was recorded on the video tapes as well as Live-View through the camera lens. Have since converted many hours of DV tapes to digital AVI files on my hard drive. I am so excited that this was so easy and seamless.
