I put it on his raised bed, he did his best to avoid going on it, I put it on the floor, made him lie on it and he got up as soon as my back was turned. Tried several times and so far have only seen him on it once. Hopefully he will get the idea because the feel like temperature outdoor is in the 99 - 104F range daily for the past two weeks. Even the night is still hot and he hasn't been sleeping on his bed because of the heat which is causing his hip dysplasia to act up.UPDATERaised review by one star to 4. I put it on the raised bed and he has actually started sleeping on it at night! Every morning I find it wadded up so it seems he paws it around during the night and I've even seen him sleeping on it in the mid-morning which he had stopped doing! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ok, but.... *by C***E on July 30, 2018* This mat is soft and pliable and feels cool to the touch. However, if it is outside and the temps are very warm it will not really help at all. I had mine on a covered patio for my little feral cat to use when needed but when it got up in the 80's the mat did not feel cool to the touch anymore. Kitty ignores it now because it does not supply any coolness at all when it is very warm. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Don’t go by S, M, L, XL sizing-use a tape measure or you’ll be mislead *by M***N on July 3, 2018* I just received this item today so I can’t speak too much about it just yet. First impressions are mainly good though. It was 97 degrees out today so when I got home and brought the box in from the porch it was hot obviously. I removed the mat from the box and was a little concerned because it was warm to the touch so didn’t know if I needed to do something to “activate” the cooling. I laid it on the floor and within a few minutes it was drastically cooler to the touch. The dog is still leery about it and won’t lay on it, but the cat loves it! Only complaint is the size. I bought the XL and it shows a Mastiff laying on it on the box-very misleading. You can see from my photo that the cat fits nicely on it. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/125856856-american-kennel-club-akc-reversible-pet-cooling-mat-for-dogs](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/125856856-american-kennel-club-akc-reversible-pet-cooling-mat-for-dogs) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-11-03*
