Plantar warts tend to have deep "roots" and are very stubborn. Removing the top is like mowing the grass...it grows right back as the root base is still alive and intact. **Q: Do these work better than sewing needles?** A: I never thought about using sewing needle but having been a user of this tool for quite sometime, I can tell you that the point is extremely precise tipped and than gradually increases in thickness. I think whats important about how this tool functions is the weight of the tool providing the pressure needed and the length for controlling the pivot as you do the puncture for release - I would imagine you don't have those benefits with a sewing needle , as its fairly light weight, and would require multiple punctures to release. It's too wide and big of a point for me to even think of putting into my skin. As a backup I bought the smaller diabetic needle (couldn't buy just one, but for 4 bucks they come in a back with several and a safe plastic grip and another safety of only like a quarter of an inch long needle so you can't do much harm to yourself. I'm hoping that will be a small thin needle and will try that -hasn't arrived yet to know. I would NEVER use this tool on myself because of how big the needle is. I'm sure it's perfect for others who would want that. I would expect scarring but have no idea as I won't use. I'm going to keep it for felting as it looks perfect for that.
