Is it transparent enough to make a sewing pattern with?

Yes, this is the most amazing thing I have ever bought. Not only is it transparent enough to see where you are placing your pattern but it is almost impossible to tear up and will last a long time. I make welder's caps and have used the patterns I made from this over hundreds of times and you can barely see the pin holes. I love this material. I hope this helps. Connie

the desription is confusing it reads 30yds in one place and 30ft in another; which is it?

W has an excellent question as there is a Big difference between 30 yards and 30 ft. Why hasn't this discrepancy been corrected on the ad yet?

Can this be sewn onto the fabric for quilts then torn away?

I've never done that, but have had it tear, when under too much "stress", so I would think it would work for that. You can actually sew up a garment in it, before using expensive fabric, but it will tear, unlike that fabric you would use, so again, I think it would work for you.

Does this paper roll up at the ends or does it lay flat?

It comes in a long roll so the front and back end will probably curl a little. A bit of tape or a heavy object should take care of it.
