Deja Review Pediatrics, 2nd Edition

Well organized and concise review.
I really like this book -- after struggling with resources for the pediatric clerkship and shelf, I decided to give this a try and see what I thought of it. It's organized in two levels of heirarchy:1) Chapters for each section (general peds, infection disease, cardiology, pulm, etc)2) Each chapter has subheadings with a few questions on each topicThis is a HUGE improvement over a book like case files and pretest which are essentially just random -- this makes it pretty easy to review some high yield facts across various organ systems and pathologies. The question and answer format is really nice, and makes it easy to quiz yourself to see if you're remembering the things you need to remember. As far as content, the book has a surprising amount of facts jammed into the ~200 pages, but it's also very fast to read and review. The answers are also formulated in very simple language that doesn't require any mental gymnastics to comprehend. There are certainly topics that aren't covered, and some sections lend themselves better to the Q&A format of this book, but I think it's definitely worth the read. The chapters that are more factual material by definition are obviously better, with some sections that require more in depth physiology integration like cardio aren't quite as slick. This also has a lot of very classic questions that you're likely to get pimped on, so it helps to read through the respective section before you go in to see a certain patient to brush up on the high yields you're likely to get quizzed on.

Excellent book for the shelf
Deja reviews question and answer format is great for both learning and recall since it is very active. I found that I remember things much better that I learn from here than other sources. And it payed off with the highest score in my class on the pediatrics shelf

Great text for peds shelf
I used only this book and some powerpoints I have to review for my peds shelf and scored well enough to receive honors. It is easy to read and I was able to read through it several times prior to the exam and the day prior was able to go through the entire text.

Not all inclusive, but a good start
I used this during my pediatrics clerkship of 3rd year medical school. The book is brief and high yield, and it is a good start for learning the absolute basics. It is by no means all inclusive and should be only be a tiny portion of your studying sources (I also did all pediatric USMLE world questions and Pretest questions). But that is not necessarily a bad thing. I recommend it.

Best book for the pediatric shelf
This book is the best study book for your pediatric shelf. It contains a sufficient amount of information, and the format helps you quiz yourself and retain the information that you have read. I highly recommend using this book along with practice questions (USMLE World and Pretest). You'll study less and do better than the students in your class who study Blueprints or First Aid.

The delivery was on time and the book is great for a quick review
The delivery was on time and the book is great for a quick review, some minor errors but I still like the concept and style of the "deja review".

Quick summary pediatric text book
Too brief actually but a good quick overview for use during idle moments, good price for range of topics covered

updates?
Generally, Deja Review books are quite good.Does anyone know if they made significant updates to the Peds book since the 2007 edition?
