Is there another make in pliers, less expensive, to use with the TLock leveling system?

Dont waste your time, these are great and spring loaded so you dont wear your hand out! If your worried about price get a different tile lock system

Does the pliers have a setting so it’s the same tension for every wedge?

As the pliers are squeezed the wedge is moved and the ridges of the wedge click to prevent backing off tension. The wedge will only tighten to a certain level based on the thickness of the tile. This squeeze cause the tiles in that group to come to the same level. It has worked well for me.
