A bit of a challenge pushing the old hose all the way to the stop on the fitting. Had to push a drift into the hose to accomplish the mission. But, really no big deal. There is no 5 minute project😬.

Nice little inline magnet filter for any hydraulic fluid that uses a 3/8" ID hose. Retainer clip holding the part together is easy to remove with a small pick or flat head screwdriver. The O-ring may need replacing if damaged. I wish the magnet was a little stronger, it's just a weak circular refrigerator magnet with a 1/4" hole in the middle. Overall, it's a good aluminum inline filter.

I did not purchase my power steering filters from Amazon, but am posting my review here. There are TWO versions of this product, both bearing Cardone's product number "20-0038F". Your results will depend on which one you end up with. My first purchase of this product resulted in my getting an earlier version, which developed a leak after 20,000 miles. This earlier version secures the two aluminum housing halves together using an external wire-like clip made of steel. Over time, this clip wore away the soft aluminum "ring-land" of the inner housing, thus allowing a leak from between the two halves. I purchased a replacement, and despite having the exact same part number, this one has an updated design. The updated version uses a different housing which uses a small internal snap-ring to secure the two pieces together. It allows the inner housing to remain properly seated, even under pressure. However, the snap-ring is very small and very hard to remove, making regular servicing of the filter extremely difficult. This new version has a much better chance of remaining sealed, but you might find yourself choosing to replace it instead of trying to open it for cleaning when the time comes. At the time of my writing this review, the picture Amazon provides shows the earlier version. I do not know which version they will send you. I am attaching a comparison picture to this review.

I didn’t need this but since I was replacing a bad pump and leaky hose I thought it would be a good idea to put it on to filter anything out that may have contaminated the old system.

I took apart the filter and it looks like a good design that will not restrict flow. That said, this is not a six pack of filters--it is just one. The filter is reusable though, so you shouldn't ever need to replace it. The magnet is a nice feature.

Fits my 97 Mercury Sable. This is a short filter, so additional power steering line will need to be added. Also take note of the flow of the fluid, as this filter is meant to go one way. Remember to bleed the lines after installation to get the air out.

works perfectly on the power steering return lines of a 2006 Toyota Avalon xls, A 2008 Lexus RX350, and a 2010 Mercedes ML350 bluetec. Would buy again. Cheap insurance to protect an expensive system

Pump filter it....

New style and design unlike the ones in other reviews. New design has a c clip that holds assembly together, instead of the wonky grove clips in the other reviews. Totally different design, which has held up for a few thousand KM’s so far. Will update if any problems. I also siliconed around the clip and top, to provide extra/ removable protection. No leaks, no issues. The clamps it comes with are not great. I bough standard hose clamps to be sure and used them. Good luck
