Tai Chi Bang: Eight-Immortal Flute

This book goes very well with the accompanying video. It still has good instructional value even if you don't have the video. The pictures showing the movements are better than a lot of other books. This shows more pictures of a particular move to some connection between positions than a lot of instructional manuals, that just show a start and finish picture, with inadequate instructions to follow. The instructions in this book are quite good.There is also some interesting background history to the eightimmortal flute. Very informative.

Master Jesse Tsao's "Tai Chi Bang" is an essential tool for those who want to learn this ancient Chinese practice. Tai Chi Bang is a tai chi short stick form that uses the same slow meditative movements as tai chi hand forms, but with a difference. The Bang will take your practice to new places. Besides a meditation section, Bang also has a section that develops and strengthens wrists and elbows, and a final extended section of self defense techniques. This book has many photos to demonstrate the positions, together with step by step instructions. Of especial help I found the notes at the end of each section that locates the movement in the overall tai chi system.To get the most out of the book I recommend buying the DVD that accompanies the book. (You can get it from Tai Chi Healthways, [...]) I have practiced Tai Chi bang for some time. This book is a great help in furthering my understanding.

This is one of the most thorough books of instructions for a Tai Chi form I have encountered. I believe anyone seriously interested in this form will find a true master view here. I highly recommend this book.

An excellent guide for studying tai chi bang from basic form to advanced. If one is an experienced martial artist one may even be able to learn the forms. If used in conjunction with the DVD one ought to be able to learn the forms. Of course, ,if one also is fortunate to receive a workshop from Master Tsao then great success is likely,

The book explained all the movements, steps and practice necessary to gain the full benefits of Tai Chi. Each posture is explained in step by step detail.

It is a pitty that not all the important words are translated into chinese characters and also a pitty that the names of the movements are not the same as the one on the DVD. Also it would be nice to have proper Pinyin next to the chinese characters. The applications are a bit to short for explanation and therefor there is a lot of white/empty space in the book. It is a start to document all the nice things that Master Jesse Tsao is doing. A heads up for the effort and a must buy for everybody who practices this Tai Chi Bang.

The perfect book for someone wanting to experience the energy flow and health benefits of Tai Chi but is hesitant to sign up for a class that strictly holds serious students accountable to the form. It’s a beautiful set and truly helps balance, strength, and all the benefits of meditation.

It's a shame the photos were not better quality and perhaps in colour? The instructions are fairly clear but I have the video too which helps. I'd have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the pics.

A helpful aid-memoire for the DVD and with excellent instruction but the photos in my edition were far too dark. Don't bother to buy a flute - we don't all have to be David Carraway - a simple bamboo stick of suitable girth will do, failing which a slim rolling pin - I found a perfect one the right size on Amazon, or have a look round the pound shops.

The pictures are not number,yet the instructions mention the page number to follow.plus not showing clear picture from one position to the next.

LIvre en anglais, très intéressant. Dommage qu'il soit en noir et blanc alors que lorsqu'on le feuilette il est en couleurs. Choix de l'éditeur, je suppose.
