Squirm
The first thing you must know about "Pure Filth" before going into it, is that anything with Peter Sotos attached to it is going to be uncomfortable. His writing will offend many and make some others squirm. He writes a foreword to this book, which is little more than transcripts from a series of gonzo porn films from the twisted hands of Jamie Gillis. It is not for those who are easily upset or who think those "50 Shades ..." books are cutting edge erotica. In fact, this book will make those people cry. This book will be dimissed as nothing more than porn by a lot of people. It's not. It is, however, a look into the minds of people who enjoy degrading people and those who like to be degraded. What happens when those two meet? How far will things go? How far can they go? Fantasies are revealed and taken further than anyone ever expected. Tears flow, as do fluids. Again, not for the faint of heart. It's hard to recommend something like this. After reading this review, though, you'll know whether or not it is the book for you. If you have any doubts, stay far away from it. It will be too much for you to handle.

An amazing, brilliant book. Also, disturbing, but...
Disturbing isn't really the word I want to use since it implies a value judgement; suffice to say that if you've seen Jamie Gillis at work you know he has a certain...quality about him that makes him one of the more interesting performers in the world of porn. This book deals mainly with Jamie's forays into the world of gonzo style pro-am; yes, he was the inspiration for Burt Reynolds' character in Boogie Nights blah blah blah who cares, but in the end that says pretty much nothing. If you haven't seen any of the On the Prowl series you sort of owe it to yourself to see what was going on, but if you read this book you'll get the gist.More a psychological look at what goes on in the perhaps very jaded minds of performers, or maybe just a look at one man's particularly specific sort of approach to dealing with the world he's happily inhabiting, Pure Filth comes with a brilliant foreword by the always excellent Peter Sotos, a man whose writing has always been a source of great envy to me.Loads of fun (?) all the way round, if you've any interest in porn whatsoever you should own this book.

I love Sotos
If you click on the LOOK INSIDE!, what you see is what you get. Transcripts of the various On the Prowl tapes by Jamie Gillis. What sold me was Jamie's interesting intros to the transcripts themselves. Each script plays out in the theater of your mind, sick, awkward and at times twisted but still interesting. Its hard to recommend this book, unless you are a fan of Jamie Gillis, and the films he was involved in. Peter saw something unique and special in his work and captured it for your reading entertainment.
