10 Plants - Albion Ever Bearing Strawberry Plants - Certified Healthy Bare Root Plants

For reference I’m in North Texas, zone 8b. I planted these in March and we are now in June. I am so happy with the quality of these bare root strawberries and how they have turned out over the last 3 1/2 months. 9 out of the 10 took root and grew, which I thought was pretty good. They looked dreary when they came in the mail, but just know ALL bareroot strawberries are going to look that way. And I have to say, WOW they really took off and the transformation was amazing! They are a hearty variety that grow upward nice and big, with nice big leaves! The great thing about this is they have good airflow underneath, the fruit doesn’t touch the soil, and the leaves are big so I can tuck the fruit under leaves to protect it from birds. They have not been sickly and we haven’t dealt with disease like I did with my strawberries last year from a local Home Depot. The fruit is fairly large and sweet! I also was shocked at how nicely the runners root and create new plants. I probably have 20 plants now producing fruit from all the runners that created new plants! Another plus was these came with a phone number you can text for tips and I got immediate answers from the owner of the company. That was great and helped with the success of my plants. One tip I would have is don’t plant them deep at all. They have done really well right at the first 2 inches of soil. Also follow the instructions to a T! As far as maintenance, I had some berry fertilizer that I mixed in with the soil along with some worm castings and they seemed to have really liked that combination. I have only put fertilizer on them maybe twice since then (I use a slow release berry kind). And I water every day since they have shallow roots. The first pic posted is one when they were about 2 months old and then the next is today, in June so they are about 3 1/2 months out.

I live in zone 8b. I Purchased 10 roots in the spring of 2025. All 10 roots had leaves within 2 - 3 weeks and I actually harvested about 20 -30 small to medium sweet berries by August. Mind you that this was the first year. I covered the plants for the winter with row cover only, no straw or hay. A few leaves became red and a few leaves died but most of the plants leaves stayed green all winter. I now have 22 plants (12 new from runners) and I have already picked 4 cups of large sweet berries (as of April 27th) and there are many more that still need to ripen. As you can see in the image, the plant is quite healthy and the beautiful berries came from that one plant. Thank you Hand Picked Nursery!

Complete garbage. Out of the 10 bare roots sent, one never even leafed out. The other 9 started growing and looked pretty good initially, but as soon as they reached a certain size, they started dying off one by one in a rapid 24-hour flash-wilt. They droop flat and die overnight. They clearly lived off stored crown energy just long enough to look okay, then collapsed. I am an experienced grower and use a digital moisture meter, so I know with absolute data-certainty that this was not a watering or care issue. It is a latent root/crown fungus or vascular defect straight from the nursery. Pictured are two that died off. Update: Only one alive now. Don't purchase from this vendor.

I saw a lot of negative reviews on this seller after I had purchased the strawberry roots. I followed the instructions that was with them. It states new growth will start on day 3. In less, than 24 hrs they showed new leaves. Day 2 they are looking fantastic. Every one of them are growing and look very healthy. Don't get scared away by negative reviews. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the bare roots. I purchased another type from a different seller as well. Some of the crowns sent didn't have any roots, all of the ones from this seller looked how they should . I'm waiting for outside temps to cool down before they go into a raised bed.

These were all growing and doing very well. They came as little bare root plants in plastic. I mistakenly didn't get them out of the plastic as fast as I should but they're still doing very well. I had left the whole bag of them just sitting by the door and got busy and didn't plant him right away- 3 days later I finally got it done. They were totally fine though - The preparation had been excellent for keeping them viable.

Read a few bad reviews, but i went ahead and purchased anyways. The price was reasonable and I really didn't need all 10 plants to survive. They came in a small envelope that luckily I noticed got tossed on the coffee table. I was busy at the time so opened them, misted them, and put em under a grow light still in the shipped clear bag. Planted them late the next day. Definitely follow the instructions. I soaked all mines roots in a flower pot. As I planted them I wished I had let them all soaked in their own cup or container. As I pulled each one out another one would flop over touching the crown into the water. Even just a few minutes in water is detrimental-do not get the crowns wet, they turn to mush and die within minutes its no joke. All mine arrived fairly dormant and potted well 12/10 seemed to take off. Minus a few mushy leaves on the lastones planted....

VERY PLEASED! PLUGS ARRIVED IN GOOD TIME, WITH HEALTHY ROOT SYSTEM>. I PLANTED THEM IMMEDIATELY INTO INDIVIDUAL POTS – THEY TOOK ON RAPIDLY, AND SOME DEVELOPED BLOOMS ALREADY. NOW I WAIT FOR COOLER WEATHER TO TRANSPLANT THEM IN THEIR 'HOME BED' AND I AM SURE THEY WILL CONTINUE THRIVING AN BEARING BLOSSOMS AND FRUIT!

I would leave zero stars if I could. I ordered these a second time, thinking I did something wrong the first time. But it's really hard to kill something already dead. Maybe 3 out if 20 plants had some green. All the rest were brown. They never recovered. The green ones eventually browned too. There won't be a 3rd time's the charm thing.
