MSM responds for many people, but not for others. Thickness, speed, and texture (this could be good or bad depending on the natural state of your hair). MSM is not a cure for baldness and won't re-grow hair.

is this good for thinning hair , and or good for hair that recently started to fall out?

It's good for both. You'll notice your not only your hair, but your nails too, growing back stronger. It helps the growth of your skin as well, if you go out in the sun, it keeps your skin from getting too burnt. I take two tablets morning, noon and night with food, roughly 4000 mg to 6000 mg daily. Start out slowly though, work up to that amount or else you can get pretty gasy. Keep it up and try at least three months worth to see results. I've been taking MSM since Febuary, and within a month I noticed a difference in my hair. I take about the same amount in Vitamin C along with it. They work really well together. Great results!

The picture says OptiMSM, but one of the reviews says that the actual bottle did not have OptiMSM but another type of MSM. Is this still true?

I just looked at my bottle of Doctor's Best MSM 1500mg and it does have OptiMSM on the bottle. But I recently went to Costco and discovered they have Kirkland's Extra Strength Glucosamine HCl 1500 mg With MSM 1500 mg in a bottle with 375 tablets.
