Garmin nuvi 2597LMT 5" Bluetooth GPS Navigation w/Lifetime Map Traffic Mount Bundle - Includes 5" Bluetooth GPS Navigation System, Portable Friction Mount and 1 Piece Micro Fiber Cloth

First time user and the experience was good. Not really a tech person but reading the online manual and experimenting got me good results.Only problem was that after using the device once it would not turn back on. I had already charged it through the car 12V plug (which was kind of a pain) hopefully not that it is fully charged once it will be OK. Well anyway I could not get the device to turn on after initial use and update through computer. I tried holding the power button in for ten seconds no luck.Finally I called Garmin customer service and tech told me to hold button in longer and viola it worked. Device came on again. I haven't had a problem since.Device works great.I would recommend it. We got a friction mount which is very good and I recommend that also. You can move device around while driving if need be and it is good to have if you enter states where the window mount is illegal. All in all this was a good purchase.

If I had more room from the dash to the windshield I would have gotten the bigger screen. So far so good. I am very happy with my new Nuvi 2597LMT. Set up was very quick. I changed my mind after ordering this Unit For the Glass screen 2797lmt but after changing my order I noticed most of the reviews on the 2797 were for other model numbers. Cant trust that, so I changed my mind again and reordered the 2597lmt. Very glad I did. Love this GPS. For me the best part is the voice command. It works very well in a stopped car. Not so good if your driving with road and wind noise. I don't like the half screen lane assist, its to small on the five inch screen. It may be OK on the seven inch but for the five it would be better to go whole screen.

The gps his self so far doing good with me, but the mount display is tooo big. I think you need to change the picture to actual size that the people can have an idea how big is it. I am returning the that mount display back definitely.

I used my new Garmin to travel from the SF Bay Area in No. Calif., to the Palm Springs area in So. Calif. during the Christmas holidays. This navigator notified me via voice system of all traffic conditions & changes; when traffic was going to become heavy, as well as a delay due to an accident some 15-20 miles before we approached it. By the time I arrived to the area where the accident had taken place, it had been moved off the road and traffic flowed smoothly. The Garmin continued to let me know the updated road, traffic & accident conditions as I drove along. I didn't know this feature would be included. Since I didn't subscribe or pay an additional fee, but rather just purchased the unit at the price offered on Amazon, I'd have to presume the life time maps & traffic is included with no additional fee or subscription(s) required. For the record, I've used several built-in navigating systems in various vehicles over the years, but I can honestly say that I like this Garmin the best of any I've ever used. Large display screen is easy to see and very clear, and the voice system can be heard well. The full charge lasted several hours before I plugged it on to my car charger. And the voice direction is very precise, allowing me time to change lanes for off-ramps and exits, giving me proper arrival times as well as current speed limits & actual driving speed. Every detail has been well thought out. I can highly recommend the Garmin nuvi 2597LMT 5" navigation system.

We love the dash pad! The Garmin sits snug and never slips. We also appreciate all the things it does on its own as time zone changes and day to night viewing. The directional change instructions are well timed and not irritating. Once you are narrowed to a given state finding points of interest seems to be pretty easy. The only problem we have is getting that first destination of the day programmed. It is not easy to search when you need to change the state. We just took our new unit across the country and everything went well except the programming. I am hoping this gets simpler in time.

I have always been happy using the GPS on my smartphone. I thought that a GPS like this would be better. I was very wrong. I don't need or even want all the extra features and found some of them very confusing and difficult to use. I don't usually have this problem. My second problem was finding a good location for it in my car. It obviously should not restrict my view or distract me while I am driving. However, the instructions also included warnings that many states have legal restrictions about its location and suggest that you call law enforcement to get these restrictions. Since I frequently travel by car, I would have to call a lot more than one state. That's something that I don't have the time or patience to do. I also realized that my smartphone is much easier to slip into my purse and take with me than this would be. Hence I returned it and all the extra accessories that I purchased with it (car charger, better stand, insurance).

I am retired and live in a tiny community in the mountains. My driving is limited to going to church and the store for all practical purposes. At Christmas, I needed to take a gift to a friend who lives on another mountain. I went online and got directions; however, I never did find her house despite driving for almost an hour. My son, gave me a Garmin as a gift telling me that now I could find the homes of my friends. IT WORKS! I use it so much. I now visit people whose homes I knew I would never find and now I do. In fact, I liked that one so much that I purchased this one for my daughter who is moving cross-country to a new community and lamented about finding her way around. She has already used it to seek our homes for sale in which she is interested as well as to find the services she needs. She is so pleased with this one. What a fabulous invention! I love the times in which we are living. I don't really understand how this works, but, I love using it.
