Q: In the pictures, the white version is notably longer & skinnier than the black. This is just a trick of the camera, right?

They are all the same length. I have more than one and or color. Just an optical illusion. Unless they have more than one length in the same place carefully read the description. I’ve had more than one style when you select a certain product.

Q: Does this come as 2 items. One black one white?

It comes as a one piece, either all black or all white, you choose which color. Very comfortable to wear, not scratchy.

Q: I would desire less fluff. I am wondering if cutting off the top layer of voile will work? I can’t find any petticoat with less flare.

I would just look for something else.

Q: will xlarge fit bust size 40ddd and size 16 women?

I'm a 38C and a size 16 and it's not tight on me, I can't say if it would fit you, but love this slip. Good Luck
